Anyone else planning on watching tonight? I'm interested to see if anything is said about the alleged separation!
Re: Jon and Kate?
It's definitely a show I can't look away from, but I usually DVR it. It will be interesting to see what happens.
Do you think this is the last season?
I can't stand the show but I am curious to see what the hype is about. I seriously think its about something less scandalous like they admit that they have to work on their marriage more or they finally admit that the dogs are a lot of work.
I've been wondering though if this was the last season since I was watching HGTV alot this weekend and they were really promoting the crap out of that Table for 12 show that's starting.
Someone definitely needs to post an update afterwards!!
I forgot they got the dogs...seriously, who thought that would be a good idea to get 2 puppies with 8 young children running around the house.
Sheesh.
Yea... and TLC made it seem like it was a huge thing with their marriage.
Wow could she be more selfish!?!? Jon is obviously miserable and trying to express his frustrations and she just keeps butting in: "Well, I'M happy. I'M loving it, so..." UGH! Why can't she just listen to him for once!?
Something tells me there won't be a season 5.
My thoughts exactly. They make way too much money to give up the show. Plus they just bought that gigantic house with all the land. This is their job now!
Sorry to butt in, but as someone said it is like a trainwreck that you cannot turn away from.
If you watched both new episodes, there definitely was a change in Kate's attitude in the second episode.
In the 1st show she was all huffy and puffy, "::sigh:: yes we have a babysitter, ::huffy:: she is not a nanny, ::puffy:: by no mean cans we...."
in the 2nd episode, she did not ignore Jon as much, just talked over him.
You could tell they were trying to talk about the photo of jon and girls surfacing, and how people think they have a nanny, but they just would not come right out and say what they (and what we wanted) to hear.
ok butting out, thanks for letting me post.
last night's episodes were more than I have probably seen of the show in the past 2 seasons combined....and I was reminded of why I stopped watching. Kate's attitude in general, and especially towards Jon is awful. I think Jon must have said 4 or 5 sentences in the entire hour. And half of that was repeating that he was at him mom's house. I feel so bad for him and the kids. She really made a fool of herself when she was telling them not to get wet at the museum.
I bet if there is a season 5, you won't see much of Jon.
Here's a couple other things I noticed since the last time I watched the show: Kate is now "Oompa-Loompa" orange from tanning products, Jon looks like he put on about 40lbs since the shows "opening credits" segment was filmed, and there was a shameless plug for Allstate.
I was thinking the same thing about having to do the show now because of the big house although I remember hearing rumors that TLC paid for part of the house because of needing more room for crew, etc. Not sure if that's true but its not unbelievable that something like would happen.
She definitely looked orange!! Gross!!
I thought the same thing, word for word. She used to hate shopping.
I haven't watched the show much in the past year either and last night made me realize why. It's very commercialized now - the obvious ad for Allstate, them going on and on about how fun the Globetrotters were (though not really seeming excited about it...kinda like they just had to plug it).
I was expecting a more dramatic revelation at the end, so it was a bit of a let down. I was sort of shocked to hear Kate say how much she loves her "job". What is her job anyway? I felt bad for Jon too; he is obviously struggling with it, and I thought I remembered them saying that they would only continue to do it if everyone agreed to it and it still felt "normal". Doesn't seem to feel that way anymore, but I'm sure Kate will find a way to push on through for another season.
Stacey - you brought up a good point. I remember Kate saying she hated shopping too, that Jon would just pick out clothes for her because she didn't care about fashion. I read somewhere that certain companies actually donate the clothes to J&K (like Gymboree and Ann Taylor Loft), so I agree with her that it would be a lot more fun to go shopping if I didn't have to worry about how I was going to pay for it. I guess everything is paying off for them.
It really bothered me how she kept talking over him and didn't seem to be considering his feelings. You're right about the show being more commercialized now. It seems like everything is an ad.
Touch Please Museum is in Philadelphia. I've heard that it is very good.
