Re: Poll: First Job?

  • I worked at my high school as a co-op when I was 15.  But my first real job was as a waitress at Bill Knapps.  A crappy chain restaurant in MI, whose main clientele was senior citizens.  And man, could those old people get crabby!
  • A "Sales Associate" in the Jr.'s Department at Penney's. First and only time I worked retail.
  • I was a courtesy clerk (AKA a grocery bagger) at Lucky's (now Albertson's). I got promoted to the deli after a year.
  • First job was data entry at my mom's mortgage company during the summer.

My first kinda full time job was CRAPTASTIC (well it was part time but it was year round)  I worked at AMC Theatres at the block. I quit when they wouldn't give me Christmas off. LOL

haha, one of H's first jobs was some men's store at the mall.  He quit when he requested a day off for prom and his manager told him he had to pick his priorities in life.  lol

    Why doesn't this surprise me?

  • Busing tables at a country club
  • My first job was at Penguin's frozen yogurt/espresso shop. One my first day a lady yelled at me for allegedly shorting her of sprinkles on her cone. I quickly learned that food service was not an industry I'd ever want to go into.

Why am I not at all surprised by this?

That was my first job too! I couldn't take it. I quit after 2 weeks.

  • A costume character at Children's parties.
  • I worked at Color Me Mine, got paid under the table, and got to sit around and paint all day. Pretty sweet job.
  • In 7th grade I started teaching dance classes (adult tap and 3-4 year olds ballet/tap combo) at one of the dance studios where I took ballet.

Looking back, I cannot believe how young I was (12!) but of course at the time I felt sooooo adult. heh

ha!  I think the only reason I stayed there for 2 YEARS (man, what was I thinking?!) was because my brother said that I wouldnt last 2 weeks.  I guess I proved him wrong.  haha

    That's awesome!

My first job was as at a shave ice stand. It was an awesome job as I got to work with my best friend, flirt with the bag boys of the nearby supermarket, eat all the shave ice I wanted while working on my tan. Cool

  • In high school my mother got me a job as a file clerk for a high end shoe manufacturer.  No interviews or anything.  When I didn't want to work there anymore I just stopped coming in.  A couple years later they asked my mom if I wanted to be a sales rep.  They must have been desperate.  lol

I was good at it!  And it was easy and paid well!

My kids went up as much as 250 points just on the verbal section.  I was very proud of them.

  • I worked for a frozen yogurt place (I believe this was before Golden Spoon became popular) called The Yogurt Station.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
