How muchl...

did it cost for you guys to get your wedding dress cleaned??? I'm just trying to get some round-about figures so i'm not taken advantage of when I go to a leaners. Its been hanging on the back of my door and I need to clean it before I decide to preserve it or trash it :)

  • oops...how *much*  :)

  • I kinda want to do a TTD shoot, but I am still up in the air and unable to plan something so I am taking my dress this weekend to get cleaned/preserved and I think it will be between $100-200.  It seems overpriced, but then again everything related to the wedding was about twice what I would have otherwise paid in reality :)
  • the lady who did my alterations told me about $150. When i just got my skirt spot treated(after my bridals) it was $75. It'll definitely be $100+.  Where are you going to take it to?
  • Renea - I agree, everything for weddings is more than reality budgets... It's amazing how much you CAN spend if you just bought everything full price, etc. But, yeah, I think the $100 - $200 range is realistic. I want to get mine cleaned too, but that's a lota money. Anyone know how long you can safetly wait before getting it cleaned?

What about those companies they are alwasy advertising on the knot where you send your dress in?

  • The quotes I've gotten around here have been $200 and up just for cleaning.  I'm also still trying to decide if I'll do a TTD shoot so, it would be silly to clean it before that.

If I decide not to do the TTD, I think I'll tear out all of the crinoline and underskirt layers and get it cleaned as a regular gown.  I'm not going to preserve it anyway, just want to clean the fabric for use in christening outfits down the road.

  • So the people at my local cleaners said you should have it cleaned within a month, however I'm not too stressed about it because on mine the dirt is pretty much on the underside of the train.  And besides that, I'm sure they can still get the dirt out even after a few months.
  • Why is nothing cheap with weddings?

  • cause you know with anything that has the word "wedding" or associated with the word "wedding" it's an automatic 1,000% markup!!! Stick out tongue
  • blah! down with price gouging!   Oh well...now to just convince DH that I should be able to do a TDD, and all will be well :)

  • I know! I wasn't going to do them, but I have been so down on my wedding photos that I think I would like some additional nice ones taken so I think I'm going to do it sometime too.  The thing is, I want to keep my dress so I don't want to actually "trash" it Wink
  • The cheapest I found was for $185. I think thats rediculous but Ill suck it up and pay it bc its a one time thing.

  • $250 was what it cost me, ugh. But it was worth it because I sold the dress about a week later! :)
