how do you deal with THAT question
Re: how do you deal with THAT question
I think some people in general lack a filter in the questions they ask. They're the same people who ask how's wedding planning going over & over again in hopes of getting something other than "fine, thanks for asking."
Then again, perhaps my opinion is skewed. In the last few months I've had someone on this board ask my SO is black & if I was really sure that he is the father of my baby.

this for sure.
When we were trying, we didnt tell anyone. It was the most frustrating thing to have people ask us during the months we werent successful. Some people are just idiots.
I think I was one of those. Sorry.
But technically, you don't haaaaaaave to in order for that to happen.
Seriously, though, I would be creeped out if my SIL constantly brought that up.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
ETA to actually answer the question: If it's not a family member or close friend, then I usually just give the person a very vague answer of, "In a while," or "You'll know when it happens." Luckily, I have encountered anyone that has been rude or pushy about it.
I did laugh myself at the "carry a briefcase, wear pantsuits, and mingle with other lawyers."
haha, you weren't that bad at all. There were others that were worse. Or maybe it's cause you're one of my besties so it didnt bother me when it came from you.
What?! On this board?!

w.o.w.
that is crazy, Kelli
I laughed at the part about studying law in college.
It's a good thing this person is not a lawyer.
Here? Really?
Yes, was asked via gmail. I won't out them (but if you go back to when I confirmed I was pregnant on the board it isn't hard to figure out - there were some doozy questions back in that thread).

Nothing breeds faster than Crazy
I am actually surprised that almost no one ever asks us-maybe they just know because we NEVER talk about it. Those close to me know that we are not planning on having kids. I never discussed this with my parents and my mom finally asked me about 2 months ago (we got married in Sept 07) and she has not mentioned it since. I think she is afraid we might ask them to babysit. They already have two grandaughters so that takes the burden off of me.
The one thing that drives me crazy is the response I have gotten from people. When I say "we are not having kids" they say "ever?" or "you HAVE to have kids"- Why do I HAVE to have kids? I like telling people that as I have gotten older I am starting to see why some parents hit their kids. That usually keeps them quiet. Obviously I would never hit a child.
This was us as well! We couldn't tell anyone since we were told we would have a very difficult time.
