Wedding Cake!!

Can we have our cake and eat it too?  LOL

So, the top tier of the cake... who is saving it for the anniversary?

We had ours specially preserved (airtights seals etc..) by the baker, but I want to have it for our 6 month anniversary dinner in Jamaica, what do you think?

Re: Wedding Cake!!

  • ours was wrapped and boxed and wrapped by the people at the venue and has been in the freezer since. we're saving it for our 1st anniversary. I think the 6 month anniversary is good too tho. it would be special

  • Thats cool, ours has been in the freezer ever since also.  We are supposed to wait for our 1 yr anniversary, but I realized that our 6 month wedding anniversary is during our honeymoon.  I heard of some couples eating it on thier honeymoon, mine just happens to be later than most.  I think it would be kind of cool.  After a candle light dinner, have our wedding cake :)  Then again, maybe I shouldn't try it since it will thaw on the way there (7 hr flight).
  • Crissy, that sounds like a great idea.  Ours is in the freezer patiently waiting for our one year.  If you do decide to have it on your 6 month maybe you can have a replica made for your year aniversary, or surprise him with a cake to celebrate your six month.
  • Ours is in our freezer too (taking up tons of room) but I like the idea of snacking on it for the 6 month anniversary!!! hehe Maybe you could have one made at the place where ya'll are staying if the concern of it thawing out on the way to Jamaica is there (which I would be worried about it too). I think that's an awesome idea though Chrissy!! :)
  • I wish!

Due to a catastrophic caterer snafu, we had no cake.  She was evil, but I'm over it Wink

I'm thinking of having a small version of what our cake should have looked like made for our 1 year anniversary, more for me than for my husband Smile

  • Crisi, I think it''s a great idea in theory but, wonder if it will work because of 1) the thawing you mentioned or 2) airline regulations about bringing food in flight (especially international flights).  Will they allow you to bring it?  I'd hate to hear that it would have to be discarded at the airport.

We did save 1/2 of our top tier (it was huge!) and have it well wrapped and frozen for our one year anniversary.

  • eck...no we didn't save ours. lol interesting to see that we are the only ones who didn't.. three reasons. #1 there was no cake left, #2 our freezer barely holds the food we have in it now, there is no way we'd be able to fit a cake box in there # 3, just gross. there is no way i want to eat year old cake - plus the cake people who did our cake give you a one year anniversary cake as part of your cake package-
