I just mailed out my thank you cards for my vow blessing and wedding. As bad as I feel for them taking 3 months, I feel that much better that they are done and on their way!
Re: My Confession...
No worries! I don't think anyone will complain! In my parent's social circles it is one year to get them out. So I'd go by that rule. Then you are way ahead of the curve.
I say this because I too finally sent out my thank you notes today!
Personally, I have heard that a couple has 3 months to send them out. When my grandmother didn't get her thank you card in the mail the week after the wedding, she called my parents to complain.
Gah. At least they are done.
I put ours in the mail this morning. I really wanted to get them out at the 2 month mark, but H was a little slow on his.
I've always heard 2-3 months, so I think you are fine.
I've heard 1 year to give a present to a bride and groom but I've never heard 1 year to thank someone.

I've heard the same time frame, Sarah. 1 year to give, but 2-3 months to thank. I've never understood where that 1 year came from and I think it's ridiculous.
I got all the thank you notes out several weeks ago, and they were only for gifts. For people who attended and didn't give so much as a card, H and I profusely thanked them in person for coming. By the time I finished our TYs, we had 10 couples/family units who fit that category. 2 have sent us belated gifts and been properly thanked in writing. 1 more has confessed that she still has our gift at her house in the next state. The other 7? Nada.

I personally think it is disgustingly rude to come to a wedding and not give as much as a card. If you came to my wedding and didn't leave a card, you didn't get a thank you card. The meal and good times were enough, IMHO.
Believe me, I understand what it means to be crunched for money. I really do. But it costs next to nothing to write a nice note on some paper wishing a couple a happy lifetime together. This is not an issue of being poor, it is an issue of having absolutely no tact whatsoever. I am still friends with the 10+ friends that did this at our wedding, don't get me wrong, but I still think it is a crappy thing to do.
Perhaps my mother is confused...oh well! I got them out within 3 months...I guess I'm still good!
I agree with you Sarah. We also had a handful of people who didn't even give us a card.
I did want to send the 20 people who didn't show after rsvping "yes" a card thanking them for wasting our money. AHH SNAP
