Hi Ladies, I wanted to introduce myself. I've lurked on here a little, but mostly stuck to the Pets board and the DFW knot board.
I currently live in Dallas with my dog (see below) and I'm newly engaged. I'm hoping ya'll might have some advice because ya'll have already been through your wedding.
My FI and I are about 80% postitive we are getting married at the Cathedral Guadalupe in downtown Dallas. I have a decent budget from my parents, but I'd hazard to say it's not as large as some Dallas weddings can be. As much as I'd like to have the reception near the church and downtown I think they are all going to be too pricey.
Do ya'll have any recs from your weddings or weddings you've been to in Dallas, maybe receptions in Addison or North Dallas area? What about Las Colinas? Or if you know some great venues for you money near downtown even better!!
Thanks in advance ladies! I look forward to knowing ya'll better!
Re: Intro & wedding advice
No advice because I got married out in the suburbs, but just wanted to give you a Guns up!
haha! thanks! I'm afraid I might miss most of this football season as we're planning a quicker wedding in January. I'll try to fit it in somehow...planning in the morning games in the evening!
Also, forgot to mention our invites are going to be around 260 people and my mom is figuring (hoping) closer to just over 200 or so.
I had my reception in downtown Dallas. My place was great for the budget. It is called the Dallas Arts Center. They provide free of charge tables and chairs and some decor options. Here is the website: http://www.specialdayeventsinc.com/

We were married at the Cathedral 4 years ago!
I agree w/ a p/p about the Dallas Arts Center, especially because they provide the tables, chairs, and linens as part of the price.
Feel free to send me an email bianca.renee at gmail.
We had our reception at Ciy Place which is a building at roughly 75 and Lemmon/Haskell? It was way cheaper then any of the down town buildings and had a gorgeous view. This was 3 1/2 years ago though.
ETA: that should have been City* place
When I click through it's blank... am I doing something wrong?
Welcome!! I am planning a wedding too... but it's in Maui, so I am no help. Just wanted to say hello and throw up another gun in here... Wreck 'em...
I'm throwing a private party and we wanted the cheapest option Dallas has to offer that is still a nice venue. We found this place http://thisisspace.com/rent They have a large upstairs event room bring in your own everything (Food, alcohol, tables etc..) they also have a downstairs for cocktail receptions, depending on what artist is using the art galary.
Blessed.
