I'm looking into buying a DSLR camera. I loved my old film SLR, but I don't want to use film anymore. I'm an novice photographer, nothing fancy. I just like the control of SLR's over point-and-shoot cameras.
So, if you know anything about them, what brand and/or camera would you recommend? I'm not looking to spend a ton of money, but I want to get something that will last me a while.
Re: DSLR Cameras
I like Nikons for DSLRs (Canons for Point & Shoot). I have a Nikon D90 and it's amazing...can't come up with any good excuse to upgrade from it...and there isn't anything on the market currently that would make me want to.
The Nikon D40 is a good camera, if you're ok with 3 focus points and 6 mp. It wasn't good for me, because I needed more focus points and more resolution, to allow for cropping during wildlife photography.
If you can't afford a D90, but want something more advanced than a D40, look into a D80.
