Poll: Does your DH wear his ring?

I know this seems like an obvious question, but mine only wears his when we go out to dinner or something like that. He works in construction and I've actually told him not to wear it to work (the pics of what can happen to a hand and finger after getting caught in machinery are horrendous). It doesn't bother me at all. What's your situation??

Re: Poll: Does your DH wear his ring?

  • Yep. I'm pretty surprised that he hasn't taken it off since the wedding since he seemed uneasy about its wearability. I take mine off at home usually, and he'll crack, "Aren't you married today?"

  • He wears it.  He doesn't sleep or shower in it though (neither do I).
  • I am bad about mine too though. I take it off the second I get home. I don't wear it to the beach or pool or when I'm at home. I only wear jewelry in general when I go out. I really don't like it, it feels so cumbersome to me. I am strange.
  • My husband does not wear his to work b/c he is a welder.  Any other time he wears it.
  • He wears it all the time. He lost his mangagement ring when he took it off to shower at the gym so he learned not to take his ring off.

I wear my ering all the time. My wedding ring is on my right hand and I keep changing the finger it's on. I might change the ring altogether. I love jewelry though.

  • He wears his everywhere except work, because he does a lot of manual labor and has also heard/seen horror stories about guys getting the entire finger pulled off.  As soon as he gets home, he showers and puts it on.

He is currently looking to get back into a desk job...so if and when he does that, he'll wear it everyday.

  • He doesn't take it off, unless he's fiddling with it.  I have a feeling that while hes working if he is typing a lot he may take it off for periods of time (only because I've seen him do this at home a couple of times).  I never take mine off - we both sleep and shower with them on.  It would bother me if he didn't wear it, unless he had a job (like the ones you girls have described) that it is just dangerous.
  • He does, every day.  He takes it off when he showers, but that's it.

It is, however, a half size too big, and he's already lost it in a pool.  Luckily, he and his cousins searched for it and found it, but I'm still concerned about it haha

I'm friends with everybody in this office. We're all best friends - I love everybody here. But sometimes your best friends start coming into work late, and start having dentist appointments that aren't dentist appointments. And that's when it is nice to let them know that you can beat them up.

Exactly the same here. I think he forgot to put it on one morning after his shower and the cleaning lady at his office actually scolded him for it.

  • He wears it everyday and doesn't take it off (same with me).  He works at an office, so has no problem leaving it on.

  • He never takes his off... although I imagine once he has to start, i don't know, sticking his finger up people's butts at work, he'll take it off.  At least i hope so.
  • He wears his all the time, neither of us ever take them off to shower/sleep.  The only time we take them off is when we are painting or something that could hurt it.  Occasionally he puts it in his pocket at work if he is doing something like cutting wire or using other tools and such, but for the most part he's in an office so its no big deal.  I think he takes it off when he golfs becuase it gives him a blister.  I'm glad we bought him a cheap ring because I've lost a ring before putting it in my pocket so I dont really like him doing that.
  • He wears his all the time. I am not as saintly. I usually only wear mine when I go out.
  • My DH also doesn't wear his at work.  Same reason as yours, he's Navy and it would be easy for the ring (and thus his finger) to get caught on something...plus he's concerned about scratching it all up with all the metal around at his work.  I'm with you, I'd rather him not have it on than have him lose a finger.

FWIW, I also don't wear mine half the time at work.  I sometimes work on construction sites myself doing environmental sampling.  Too easy to hurt my hand or the ring in a place like that.

  • DH's wears his ring constantly (sleep and shower) except for when he goes to the gym (it tore up his hands to lift weights with the ring on).

I wear mine constantly (sleep and shower in it) except when I am cleaning the house (don't want the chemicals to hurt the ring).

Neither of us wear it to the lake/boating or to the ocean (too afraid we would lose it)

  • DH wears his all the time, but he CONSTANTLY is fiddling with it. He also likes to slip it off and freak me out, but I know he would be seriously upset if anything happened to it.

I wear my rings all the time, even to sleep/shower. We did both take our rings off in the ocean on our HM due to fear of losing them.

  • DH works in an office, so he does wear his to work. He wears it around the house most of the time, too. We both take our rings off to shower, sleep, and if we're doing any sort of serious cleaning or home improvement project.

  • He doesn't wear it while working (teaching drums or doing PT) because it has a raised design and gets in the way/scratches patients. And he doesn't wear it to sleep or to the gym. But he has it on the rest of the time (before and after work, evenings, weekends) or else he gets a stare from me. He's considering having one tattooed on since he has to take it off so much.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • DH does take his ring off a lot. He gets a rash from it so now he's learned to take it off to shower and when he works out and he takes it off to sleep. He forgets to put it back on sometimes. For some reason it doesn't bother me that much that he doesn't always wear it but I try to remind him to put it back on when we're going out.

I only take mine off to shower.

  • DH wears his out of the house but not at home. His hands swell a lot, so he takes it off quite a bit. He plays with his ring a lot too. On the honeymoon he left his watch at the airport because he took it off. I'm afraid he'll lose his ring too.

I don't wear my ring when I am sleeping or in the shower. The jeweler why wear it then when it's unnecessary wear at night when you're sleeping.

  • DH is definitely a "fiddler" but he keeps it on all the time (when sleeping and showering). It's interesting, but I used to take my e-ring off to shower and sleep, but since we've been married, I never take my rings off.

  • DH is ring is always on. I don't think he's taken it off since I put it on him the day we got married. I can understand why your husband would wear his only to dinner so that he does not bang it up.

Ahh david's ring is a half size too big as well and his slips off all the time.  I dunno if you thought of this already but I actually asked the jewelry store that we bought it from if we could get a discount on a new ring that is the correct size and explained that his didnt fit anymore since we bought it last fall (it's an alternative metal and can't be sized) and they said if we brought it back in they would replace it with the correct size, no charge.  NICE.  of course has he gone to do that yet?  NOPE.

     arg boys.

  • oh and to answer the question, yes he wears it to work and out and about however he takes it off to shower and sometimes to sleep.  he's still not used to it being on all the time I think.  and it's too big and he's afraid of losing it down a drain or something.  He left it at home when he went camping which was probably a good thing so it didnt fly off in the woods!

I wear mine everyday to sleep and to shower but I'm used to wearing rings and don't find it uncomfortable.

  • Both DH and I wear our rings just about all the time.  The only time it's off is when taking a shower, cooking and cleaning.
  • Of course :)
