Poll: who's more of a tech geek?

you or your H?

Definitely me. Even though DH is only almost 2 yrs older, sometimes I think he's older because he doesn't know anything about computers or electronics. Hes a technophobe.

I think it's because I grew up helping my dad fix stuff.

  • Me, for sure.  DH knows just enough to be dangerous.

  • Me by a long shot. DH only uses his computer for gaming and if anything goes wrong with it guess who he calls ... yep that is right he wines until his computer/network is back up.

  • Me. I have to be. I am always messing up and I have to learn how to fix it. I am the poster girl for User Error.
  • I would say me...I'm the one impatiently waiting for the launch of the new BB Onyx and DH just smiles and nods.
  • I'm the wirehead. He's the gamer.

  • Me, but to be fair I work with computers/software engineering.  He is capable of using technology, but only if everything is working fine.  Any errors and he calls me!
  • Definitely DH.  But I get to enjoy the fruits of his labor, haha.

  • DH, although it is rubbing off on me.
  • We're both sorta tech geeks, but DH is more so than I am.

This, though reversed.  I'm more versed in html too, I think.  He's still toooootally 'thinking about' switching our entire network over to linux.  Confused

  • I think he is.. but then, he is a Software Engineer and works with computers all day. I'm more interested in gadgetry than him though, but we're both about equally into games and such.

    Are you serious???
  • He. I am more of a gadget nerd. But he can school me on all things tech & gadgets. I hope he doesn't read that Stick out tongue
  • I enjoy breaking it...he enjoys fixing it.
Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

  • Fi is for sure more of a tech geek than I am.
  • Both equal, H is a Software Eng and I am a Network Eng.  Got our house fully geeked out, every room has its own wired connection, wiring closet, etc :)

  • DH is.  But to be fair he has degrees in Computer science :)
  • Dh by far...He's a programmer who has been at it since about the age of 15 (he's 38 now). He's built 2 of our computer (Annie, our desk top and Wally, our server)*so, he doesn't just program but can build and fix 'em too* and created from scratch our own website(oh...and his racing website too*sigh*).  Right now he's in the process of completely overhauling our website.

  • Definitely DH. He went to school for networking.

I'm more likely to figure out the ins and outs of a specific program.

DH is also a gamer, which has rubbed off on me.

This... I'm the one who has the gadgets (cell phones, BB, iTouch, laptop, Nintendo DS).  He works in the electronics industry so he has the knowledge, but not the obsession.  He likes him home theatre/gaming stuff though.

  • When it comes to consumer electronics, I'm the techie.  He's a GIS guy though, models all sorts of crazy things with computers...
  • omg, definitely me. but i was also the one programming the vcr for my mom when i was in 1st grade.

  • My DH, for sure.  I love computers, and I've learned a lot about them, but he grew up with them in the house and with a stepdad who brought him computers and parts to work with, and in my house we didn't even have a computer until I was in high school.  He got a big head start :)
  • Definitely me.

He comes crying to me for everything techie-related.

  • Definitely DH.

We're both software developers, but I have a bunch of other hobbies (reading, crafts, travel planning, etc).  When I come home after a day of coding, I usually like to do something else.  DH comes home and codes more.

He keeps books on design patterns and new programming languages in the bathroom, and on our summer vacation, he insisted that I bring something technical along with my novels.  He packed a book on Ruby, and I ended up lugging .NET Framework Design Guidelines all the way to Alaska!

  • DH for sure. He built our computer and spent a few months trying to fix his laptop when it died. He thinks I know nothing about computers because I can't build one but I know my way around the internet and a desktop menu. He is impressed if I troubleshoot myself out of a situation.

He is also a huge gadget geek. HUGE. And a gamer. He is pretty much all nerd.

  • We're about equal tech-geek wise. He's an IT consultant and I'm a programmer.

ETA: We both have the same IS degree (though I went on for the MMIS and he didn't). We can both build a computer, and have many times (though I don't mess with hardware much anymore). I do sql, websites, and desktop apps while he does everything else.
