A guy I went to college with (very small school) took his own life yesterday. I just read his obit and learned that his parents are gone and he left a brother. The dilemma I have is if I should go to the funeral. I don't remember him, but I'm sure if I saw older pictures it would jog my memory. The funeral is 30 minutes from where I'll be moving or 9 minutes from where I'm currently staying. A lot of my classmates are going and since I'm so close I'm feeling an obligation. No one has said anything, nor do I think they would, but still. WWYD?
ETA: 90 minutes from where I am staying NOT 9

Re: A WWYD Dilemma
I'd go. But I am a funeral person b/c I am big on paying last respects.
I wouldn't judge or condemn you if you did not go.
This is legal advice. Circa 2011
Never ever? I'm having trouble grasping this.
MT, I changed my mind about this while thinking about it in class. Our actual college within LSU was pretty small and there's only a handful of people who's funeral I would attend. If I didn't really know the guy, I probably wouldn't go.
Yep, never ever.
Until recently I had all of my grandparents. My mom's dad died April 08, but I went and saw him right before he died. I didn't go to the funeral. I had to fly to Portland, and I thought it better to actually say goodbye than attend the funeral. I've never been to a funeral, I know it's inevitable, but I like that I have avoided it thus far.
