so i have an awesome pair of tory burch "thora" flip-flops that i love. LOVE. THEM.
i bought them last fall and then put them away until it got warm enough to bust 'em out, which for me this year was may-ish. i wore them probably twice a week all summer long.
i went to put them on this weekend and found that the strap was coming out of the sole. on both shoes. FML. and i'm kind of annoyed - these were $115, not just some cheapo drugstore flip flops.
would you take them back to nordy's? i found the original box that has the return sticker thingy on it, but i don't know if they'll laugh at me because i bought them in november, almost a year ago.
*sigh*

Re: WWYD?
I'd take them back for sure.
If you're too embarassed contact TB directly. I had a pair of Sam Edelman sandals I lovveeee from this summer and one of the jewels fell off. I contacted them and they sent me all new jewels for free and told me to email them if I had any other problems. Gotta love good customer service. Maybe Tory Burch will be the same way.
I would chalk it up as a loss.
You "wore them...twice a week all summer long."
It's not like they were broken from the beginning.
This. You got plenty of use out of them. Even at $100+, they aren't expected to last FOREVER. That sounds like normal wear and tear. You didn't really pay $100 for the quality of the flip flop, you paid $100 for the little T design, YKWIM?
I do like this idea, though.
Nordstrom should not be the one punished for Tory Burch's poor manufacturing and design.
Oooo.. I misread that. For some reason I thought it said you wore them twice all summer. You still might want to try TB, but stay away from Nordies.
I'd contact TB first. If that didn't work, I'd go back to Nordy's. I mean, $115 flip flops aren't expected to last more than a summer's worth of use? I would expect them to last at least a year of continuous use, at least, for that pricetag. If they were $50 or less (thereabouts), I might feel differently. But $115?
That's just me though.
Didn't your Havaianas disintegrate, too?
In a similar manner, no less?
What are you doing to your flip-flops, dude?
You should give them a proper goodbye, A La Boyz II Men.
then buy some rainbows. All leather = no blowouts.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
this. working on the manufacturing side, you can bet TB will refund nordies, especially since nordies is a ginormous retailer. I know when customers contacted us, we always sent them back to the retailer, but TB is smaller so they might be able to do something.
Yeah, but the girl who sold them to Wan gets it deducted from her commission, which really sucks.
do the girls who stand at the register at the back of the shoe department get a commission? because i bought them online with no sales help and just picked them up at the store.
I posed this scenario to Mr. Mo last night, as he used to work at Nordstrom. (Too bad I didn't see the commission part, or else I would've asked him about that, too.)
Me: Let's say you bought some flip-flops from Nordstrom, and you wore them twice a week an entire summer. Then they broke. What would you do? Would Nordstrom take them back?
Mr. Mo: That sucks. Nordstrom would totally take them back. They have great customer service. You didn't just wear them once, though. You did get some decent use out of them. I might just leave it be. How much did these flip-flops cost?
Me: $115.
Mr. Mo: What?! I'm not having this conversation.
[Mr. Mo leaves the room.]
And there is your former Nordstrom employee viewpoint.
well, as far as i'm aware (and others have said in this thread), nordstrom will get credit back from TB on these.
i still think these should last more than one season. i'm going to take them back, and i have no qualms about it.
for $115, I would hope so. and this is another reason why I would never buy FF that cost more than $30.
oh wait, my rainbows were more than $30, but those are still kicking 6+ years later.
Hypothetical:
Your next pair breaks again. Will you be back for a third?
yup.
Incorrigible.
It's good we're already friends.
well, as i said on F&B, i have no shame. and the worst they can do is say "hell no, you're just SOL."
no biggie.
they're cute and look nicer with a lot of outfits than plain rubber flip-flops. a little dressier, i guess. and i'm (well, i used to be, when i could afford it) a label whore.
there, i said it
