?Mamas & Mamas to Be: Weekly Check-in?
Re: ?Mamas & Mamas to Be: Weekly Check-in?
Actually, I just heard something very similar to this today on NPR. It was a piece done by a former surgeon general or something challenging some of the misconceptions about the H1N1 vaccine. Basically he said it was developed in a very similar way to the regular seasonal flu vaccine and hence shouldn't necessarily be viewed as any newer or more dangerous.
And regarding what you mentioned earlier about the preservatives... I initially wasn't concerned because of what I'd heard from the medical community (in person and on TV), but then one of my friends who works with kids with autism planted that seed of worry again... and now I'm so confused. It's so hard to tell the hype from the more legitimate information out there. Grrrr....
(1) I developed something called DeQuarvain's Tenosynovitis which is an inflammation of the tendons between the thumb and the wrist from carrying around the baby so much. The Dr. said it isn't uncommon for new moms to get it. As far as milestones, my baby girl has two teeth coming in and can wave hi/bye. It's ADORABLE! She is getting up on all fours and wants to get moving. I think she'll be crawling within the next week.
(2) We just had her 6 month appointment. She was 15lbs 10oz and 27 1/4 inches long.
(3) No flu shots for me. I've actually never got one before. Just plan on being extra cautious.
(4) There are so many. I really like the Graco Meal Time high chair that we recently bought.
(5) I love the "My Brest Friend" nursing pillow. I also can't live without my Medela breast pump.

Sounds about right. A million years ago, when my mom was KU with me and my twin brother...she went to her doctor's appt. around 3 months and the doctor exclaimed that she looked more like she was 5 months pregnant. My mom started crying (she was 19 and this was her first pregnancy). The listened for the baby's heartbeat and heard two. That's how she found out she was carrying twins. No u/s back then!

Or better yet, you can DIY for super cheap! I bought fabric and made two wraps for about $20. Half of what you'd pay for one Moby. And the fabric I bought didn't fray so I didn't sew a thing (no hem or anything needed).
You can see pics and find instructions on my blog post:

Too funny. Same thing for my godson! I swear they were blow drying him day and night for the first 6 weeks. Makes sense though...goes with the 5 S's from "Happiest Baby on the Block."

My OB doesn't think its PUPPS and also sent me for b/w to rule out anything viral. Its very puzzling to everyone. I hope its just an allergic reaction to all the lod spores in the air this time of year.
