Canadian nesties, please come in

Once a month at my work, we have a birthday celebration for whoever's birthdays are in that month - our work buys a small cake, but we all bring something to munch on as well (usually along the lines of chips and dip, cookies, that sort of thing - nothing major). This month one of the birthdays is a Canadian who moved here about 8 years ago. He's turning 40 and doesn't want a big fuss, but I thought it might be fun to do something special for him anyway.

Is there any kind of Canadian treat that I might be able to make that he'd like? I know this might sound dopey, but I was thinking like if Canucks have a particular cookie that they like or something (e.g., Australians like their special Anzac cookies). Because I'm a loser, all I can think of are things involving maple syrup. Stick out tongue
