Switching from the ring to Yaz...

I've been on Nuva Ring for the past year and really like it, only it makes my sex drive non-existent, so my Dr. recommended I try Yaz for awhile and see how that works. I just took out my last ring and I'm supposed to take my first Yaz pill the first day of my period. We are also going on vacation in the next two weeks - I'm a little nervous about starting Yaz, because I've heard of some women experiencing nausea/sickness/moodiness when starting Yaz for the first time. I'm afraid I'll either be sick or really moody on our vacation and I don't want anything to ruin our trip (its our anniversary trip!). Have any of you had problems when switching from the ring to Yaz? Do you think I'll be ok or should I just get my doctor to call in one more RX of the ring for me and not risk it? Thanks a lot, ladies!! Smile

Re: Switching from the ring to Yaz...

  • I just switched to yaz and love it...

I've had no loss of sex drive that I or dh noticed, actually I might say it improved a bit...

  • I'm on yaz, and have been for a while, and absolutely love it.  I find my sex drive is just as good, if not better. Plus i've found that yaz is the only birth control that keeps me from being bitchy when that time rolls around each month.
  • I;m on my 2nd day off yaz because of low sex drive, bitchiness etc...I wouldn't recommend this pill at all, but every woman will respon differently

  • My experience w/ Yaz was bad, I was sick/nauseous/ felt like "16 age". But after 8-9 months things were fine.
  • I've been on Yaz since April 2008, and for the most part it has been ok.This is my 4th pill I've been on since turning 18 but I wouldn't say it's the best..at least for me. Ortho Tri Cyclin was 1st, it made my migraines and cramps worse. Ortho Novum 7/7/7 -2nd- made periods 5-7 days long. Loestrin24 -3rd- was the best pill for me when it came to the time of the month (3 day cycles couldn't get any better)! but I was very depressed, and I was always digging through the pantry to find something to eat and my face was breaking out constantly! Yaz is ok, definately helps with the acne on my face and craves my appitite but it doesn't help me with my attitude, I am more short tempered now and find myself to be rude at times. I don't know maybe that just has to deal with me turning 21...but my periods are back to 6 days and I also find myself very nauseous a week before I start. And one of my friends had heart palpatations from being on it!!! But everyone's body reacts differently!!!!!
