Crockpot

So, are any of you ever paranoid when you use a crockpot?  Like worry the house is burning down while you are at work with your food cooking?

I used a crockpot today and for the past three hours I've been thinking 'I wonder if the house is ok...'

Re: Crockpot

  • No, but I set mine in the middle of the countertop with nothing within about 6" of it! LOL  As long as you have enough liquid in it, it should be good... we've never had it cook down to nothing, but MIL did with a new crockpot.  She put it on low before leaving for work ~4:30 and when FIL got up at 7:00, the moisture had COMPLETELY cooked out.

We had the same crockpot and that one cooked SO INCREDIBLY HOT.  But otherwise, no, no worries here.

  • I'm thinking about running up to the house before I go to the gym to check on it actually.  I think it has plenty of liquid but I'm so paranoid.  ha.  I'm making Chicken San Marco and the original recipe I found seemed like it didn't have enough liquid so I added more liquid.

  • I've only used it when I've been home and the times that I have used it, it's been fine and never boiled down to nothing.

  • This is the recipe I used:

I'll let you guys know if it's any good.  ;)

  • Sometimes I worry about mine but for the most part I don't.  I've had it boil over before but that was my fault because my crockpot was small and I had loaded it to the top.  Oops.

  • Yes - and that is why I only use it when I am home.
  • Good news!  The house did not burn down and dinner was FABULOUS.
