How can you hate this guy? re Tebow
Re: How can you hate this guy? re Tebow
I agree. There is no doubt about it that it was his stupidity that made people turn on him regardless of what he referenced. However, the thing that people remember now though is that he referenced himself as the superior being. He created a sense that he was better than others, just like Chris Rix had. We all thought we were passed this already at the school.
You also forgot to mention that he jumped on top of the TPD officer's car while he said it and at the hospital he said he was the son of God. lol I still have a FB pic of him with the word "God" on the back of his jersey.
I don't think people on here are irrationally angry at everything he's involved in. (since that hatarade was aimed at people in this post)
I do think people are tired of him being treated like the second coming. Its gets annoying. Heck, I realize my school is very often put on a pedalstol where we certainly do not belong. I can admit to that and I don't get upset when people hate us/get annoyed with us for it.
Well, I would submit that Tebow, more often than not, belongs on that pedestal (NOT the "second coming" pedestal, but the 'wow, what a remarkable young man, and a d!mn fine QB' pedestal).
I would much rather have the religion thrown in my face (as someone who doesn't practice any religion) than hear about how the star QB was arrested for drunk driving, or hitting his girlfriend, or possession of a weapon. It's refreshing to have someone who could be a role model.
In the words of Thom Brennamen, if you're fortunate enough to spend 5 minutes or 20 minutes around Tim Tebow, your life is better for it.

This was really classy.

Didn't Tiger Woods have a pristine reputation as a stand-up guy until recently?
Not saying Tiger Woods = Tim Tebow, but the Woods incident should serve as a reminder that unless you know him personally, you don't really know if someone is a "great guy" or not. It's all manufactered.
Dh and I were just talking about that....and how I would be beyond devestated if something were to come out about Tony Dungy. I still see him as the idea great famous guy
Well, with Dungy....I still have some faith there. I was enormously impressed with the class with which he handled his being fired by the Buccaneers, and it takes a lot to impress me.
But I am sure you would be beyond THRILLED if something were to come out about Tebow.
I have ZERO against the guy. So nope, I wouldn't be. I would find it really sad as well. I can't stand golf, but find it sad that all of that crap came out about Tiger. The only thing I find annoying about him is how in your face he is about religion. Thats it.
I find it sad anytime someone turns out to be a jerk when I have faith they aren't. I've said many times I think Tebow is a good guy.
You don't say...
Ok, return to your regularly scheduled Tebow...er....debating.
ITA. This is the biggest turn off for me. I think the verses on his eye black are obnoxious.
This is actually what annoys me about him. Yes, he seems like a good kid and a good role model for young athletes. I get it. And maybe I'm just jaded, but to me, he's just way over the top. It is disingenuous to me. Take it down a notch, Tebow.
