XP: Poll: How long did it take you to conceive?

Honestly, I "came out of the woodwork" because this post really bothered me. futuremrscohick simply asked how long it took others to conceive. She didn't ask for a lecture from Abbie about tttc. I'll say it again, Abbie made similar posts when she first started ttc so her lack of compassion and 'I've got it harder than you' tone bothered me. The false information irritated me too. Yes, it can take an average of 6months - 1 year for a healthy couple to conceive but you don't have to wait a year to see a doctor. While I really feel for Abbie and anyone who is having trouble conceiving (you don't forget that pain and difficult time, even after you are blessed with a child) I don't think it gives anyone right to lecture someone just because they said they were a little frustrated after 4 months.

I left this post a while ago and all of your responses really don't bother me. If you are over the board, so what. I really don't care. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if you choose to read things negatively, so be it. But I do care being called out like this because 1- I was not the only one to say that doctors typically don't do testing until 6 months if you are over 30 and 1 year if you are under 30. I saw two other posts saying the same thing. I also did tell her to chart and take her charts to her doctor even within the year because her charts may show something is wrong and the doctor may choose to do testing before the year is up. And while I may naively have made those posts when I first started out TTC, I can also remember responses similar to mine in this post and no one said anything about those responses. Apparently it is OK for some, though, and not for others. I also offered her my support and told her if she has any questions to let me know. It was only after I had words put in my mouth that I responded heatedly.

But whatever. If you are over the board then good riddance.

There is a girl on my local complaining about not getting pregnant after 4 months, so I very politely told her that 4 months is normal and suggested she read TCOYF and tried charting. She got mad at me and responded very rudely! Ugh... why do people want to always just jump to "oh no! I'm not pregnant after 2,3,4,etc months! Something is wrong!"

Really? You weren't being negative?? You were just being supportive, right?

Wow, Abbie, I'd be pretty embarrassed by the above comments you made if I were you. Not so nice...and I do agree with Christina....I can remember you making similar posts when you were only TTC a few months. Tsk, tsk.

Maybe you should go back and look at some of your old posts! Seems like all you ever do is complain about a lot of things!

Yowza! What a Monday morning read!

Gotta admit I'm over this board too, but I just had to respond to OP with some empathy and hope. I felt like she didn't get that from a post or two before mine. Not every TTC post is a soapbox for lessons in infertility.
