Life seems a little like "now what?" since Christmas is over for DH and I...I'm just curious what keeps you ladies occupied?![Poll]
Re: Now what...POLL
I chose Hobby or Goal. DH and I are running another half marathon in March, so that's occupying a lot of our time.
Also, we are starting to house hunt so this is an exciting time for us
I chose a ski trip b/c we're going cross country skiing today.
But really I'm glad to have a break from obligations for a little while.
I chose a hobby or goal. My main goal right now is to just keep thinking positively. I have so many good things in my life: a husband, money (regardless of how much I actually have :P), a house, a loving family, and the list goes on and on. I feel so much better thinking about the things that I DO have and focusing on those.
I also have a goal to be 10 pounds lighter in the next 7 weeks.
Good question! I was just thinking that myself last night--now what??
My immediate answer was: Play Nintendo for a little while and then go work on my organizing.
That of course was after we had done our run, did a little food shopping and ate dinner.
We found my old-school Nintendo when we went home for Christmas and brought it back with us. It surprised us that it actually still works, though Super Mario 2 is a little tempermental. It took a few tries to get my fingers back into it, but I'm rocking SM3. If one could ever be "proud" of their video game playing prowess.
I was disappointed that I didn't have the power pad anymore--I think that was the pre-cursor to Wii Fit!
But in all reality, I'm having trouble coming up with goals for the new year. Last year was the first year I made some actual resolutions. Some I kept, others I didn't, but I AM goal-oriented, so having that list helped me try to stay focused (and not do something as mind numbing as playing video games!). The only thing that's on my list is to get myself better organized. I'm the type to tear out magazine articles/recipes/pointers that I think are useful, good, or pertinent to our lives. Most of the time those articles don't do anything but accumulate in various piles around the house--so my goal is to get all those articles put into plastic sleeves and then filed into various binders for better reference.
I'd like to continue doing some home improvements, but DH says he wants a "break" from doing them. (Not like our house has been under any kind of rennovation since early December, and even then, it was isolated to our living room--and it was just paint--not "major" in my book!)
This is SO me!! I lost my Christmas money and gift cards over the weekend (could have sworn I put them in a drawer!) and ended up cleaning almost every single drawer in our home over the weekend! I found lots of magazine articles everywhere!
I am currently counting down to GRADUATION! I will so glad when May 17th gets here and I am officially done with seminary! Of course we are planning a vacation the next week to celebrate!
But I guess in the more immediate future, we hope to finalize Abby's adoption this month!
I chose "Nothing, just enjoying not having anything to do." DS, work and daily life put enough on my plate most days, so I'm happy to take a breather for January and February and not have anything "extra" to do.
We'll likely be taking some road trips in the spring and summer for family events and at least one race for DH, so I'm looking forward to all that. But I'm good with those things being a few months away!
Catching up on sports news...
I chose "nothing/relaxing" but in reality, our house is a disaster zone right now (moving + Christmas decs still up + out of town half of Dec.) & I have to paint the walls and get the bed for the spare bedroom from the in-laws. These definitely aren't hobbies, though!
I have a baby so of course he is keeping me occupied. In fact, I'm planning his first birthday party which is keeping me busy!
After that, I am going to get serious about starting an etsy business of sorts. I'm not 100% sure what it will be but I really want to bring in some extra income and practice my craftiness.
I picked Baby...and for a just a few days I felt that big let down, but knowing that we're finding out the sex in a few weeks and starting to plan the nursey helps fill that post-holiday void.
I also love how we're so focused on making plans in Dec. with family and friends, Jan. gets left out and we're suddenly filled with lots of downtime. I am very much looking forward to lazy weekend mornings with DH and getting a few small projects done around the house without feeling over-extended.
