I know it is early, but does anyone have something special planned? I just made dinner reservations for H and I at his favorite restaurant. I think I am going to wait to surprise him.
Re: Valentines Day
We don't do Valentine's Day. I've just never been into it.
Stop me if I've already told you guys this story, but when DH and I were dating and our first V-Day together came up, I told him I didn't really want to do anything to celebrate it and that he didn't have to get me anything because to me it's the ultimate Hallmark Holiday (no offense to those who choose to partake, it's just not for me!).
I found out later that all of his guy friends were like, "It's a trick! She's just testing you! You have to do something for Valentine's Day." When I told them later, "No, really, I just don't do Valentine's Day," they still didn't believe me!
Ditto! I could have written this almost word for word.
Jealous he must cook you the best dinners!!!
We're not really into it, but in college our group of friends used to go out as a big group, one year we went to an empty dive bar and did karaoke all night which was a lot of fun. I send out "valentines", but I just like to do hand written letters in general, and it gives me a reason to send them out with a deadline.
This year I may use it as an excuse to go back to No.9 Park.
Our dog is being neutered the thursday before so we'll probably just hang out at home. Maybe do some take out.
We've normally been skiing for the last few years so we'd go out to eat. I don't even remember what we did last year. I know MH got me a facial at bella sante which was glorious.
That sounds like a great idea!
I'm sure I'll be working since it's a Sunday. DH and I might go out the following Monday, when I have a day off and it's not crazy busy.
We're not huge into it either. We might go to Tresca; they have a great wine list. In the past we've given each other cute gifts, but (and this might sound cliche) we show we love each other throughout the year.
I'm 100% with you. Yes, cheesy, but true!
I cook almost every night so just having someone around who can cook would be awesome. And I love Squash raviolis they are my favorite pasta once again jealous hahaha
That sounds nice- a surprise dinner at his fave place!
We were going to go to FL but now our friends will be at Mardi Gras instead, so we are back to square one... it is a long weekend so we may end up just hanging out at home and cooking something special.
6 years ago on V-day, DH proposed!
That's so sweet!
Facebook
um, drool.
Those sound like some tasty dishes, even as I sit here with my coffee at 8:30 in the morning!
It's our first anniversary.
H has plans for us that he won't tell me about, but we've decided to renew our vows in a new state every year. Since we lived and got married in Florida last year and recently moved here, it works out perfectly for us to easily get started on this with Massachusetts as our first renewal state.
Nothing formal... just the two of us and our vows... but I'm excited.
I've also got some fun things planned for H (sexy scavenger hunt). I've already got his gifts, too, so we're good to go there. It should be a special day.
Edited to Add - we did not start out so hot on the Valentine's Day plans, so it's ironic that we wound up getting married that day. Our first year as a dating couple, he gave me a beer mug card with the hand written words (in pencil) "I like you better than beer." And he told me he didn't love me yet. Good times!
Thats cute!
Sexy scavenger hunt? What's that all about? Sounds like something I might want to surprise H with.
That's such a cool idea for renewing your vows!
And lmao at your first valentine's gift! Hahahaha
It's still coming together, but I want to drop off a package at his work with the first clue inside. That will send him to another location to pick up his next gift with another clue, that will send him back to our apartment complex with another gift inside the door with instructions to strip down to his boxers. Candles, music, and me in lingerie will be waiting. Of course, if I was doing this 100% with him in mind, I would also have sports on the TV, but I'm not willing to make that concession this time. He's getting Red Sox tickets as part of his gift so that will have to suffice.
I love doing stuff like this. I once wrote fun phrases on 60 or 70 sticky notes and put them all over the apartment on things like the light switch ("You turn me on."), in the fridge on the butter ("You make me melt"), and on a photo on the wall ("I like hanging out with you.") It was fun.
My dream is to plan a trip to Vegas, and clear his schedule at work for the week and surprise him by just driving to the airport, but that will have to wait until I have a job and it's not completely ridiculous for me to be spending money like that.
