Here's a recap of my week:

Monday, 15 Feb: At 10DPO, I POAS very late at night and got a very faint BFP (the pic above is from 12DPO)

Tuesday, 16 Feb: I POAS using FMU and got another very faint BFP, but a little darker than the previous night.  OMG!  This was my first day back to work, after being out sick the entire previous week with a nasty cold.  On my way to work, I was rear-ended at a complete stop in traffic on the freeway.  The driver who hit me jumped into the HOV lane and fled the scene.  I didn't feel any pain at the time so I didn't go the ER or anything.  My baby bro lives right up the hill from where I got hit so he came down to be with me while I waited for the police to show up.  I filed a police report, went on to work and got my car repaired that afternoon (my baby bro works at a VW dealership and got me a good deal on the repairs--no structural damage).  As I waited for my car, I started feeling pain in my left hip and leg.  My brother drove me to my doctor's office.  I mentioned the two possible BFPs to my doctor and he ordered a pregnancy blood test for me that same afternoon and also scheduled me for physical therapy.  He suspects I have a pinched nerve.

Wednesday, 17 Feb: I called my doctor's office as soon as they opened and got BFP confirmation!  OMG!!!  I also called my OB/GYN because a copy of my results was sent to them and also just to let them know I had been in a car accident the day before.  They told me to come in the following morning!

Thursday, 18 Feb: I went in to see my OB/GYN and she told me my EDD is 10/24/10 based on the first day of my LMP.  She also wants me to come back this coming Thursday for an ultrasound.  I know it sounds a bit early...I'll be just shy of 6 weeks, but she just wants to make sure everything is okay in there.  I'm not really sure what we'll be able to see, though, especially because I know I ovulated on CD20 or 21...not the "average" CD14.

Friday, 19 Feb: I had my first physical therapy session, which went very well.  As the days go by, I'm noticing new pains and twinges so the p/t should be very helpful.  I'm scheduled for p/t twice per week for the next 4 weeks.

My mom already knows.  I called her on Tuesday night to let her know I had been in an accident.  After describing the accident, she said, "Well, Nicole, thank God you're not pregnant!"  I wasn't planning on telling her until it was confirmed, but I started crying and told her everything.  Although it's still really early, we've decided to tell my dad and my ILs tonight at dinner.  MH, my dad and FIL are all going to Las Vegas on March 2nd.  We normally GTG before trips like these.  Since I'm not going with them (I planned not to go, just in case we got a BFP), I'm going to give each of our Dads little good luck greeting cards and ask them to open it before we eat:

I'm still trying to process everything that's happened, but I'm both excited and terrified.  I'm planning to keep this hush-hush on FB for now.  Smile

Re: I got thirsty (PIP & long)...

  • Aw, congrats! I'm sorry to hear about the car accident though. What a jerk!
  • OMG congrats Nicole!!!!! so happy for you! Big Smile

sorry about the crappy accident but i'm glad you are ok

i'd put your O date into an EDD calculator and use that date instead of the ones based on your LMP since that will be more accurate.  that way you don't freak out when they don't see much on your u/s... but americanpregnancy.org has good info on what to expect on each u/s based on gestational age. you'll probably just see a sac and pole but probably not a heartbeat.

  • Congrats Nicole!!

The card you made for your father and FIL is super cute. They're gonna love them! =) But sorry to hear about your accident. Boo =( ! Hope that your PT goes well. Sending a lot of good & happy vibes your way!

Thanks, Jaime!  Yeah, FF said my EDD is actually 10/29/10 (exactly 2 months after Tara!).  I'm sure my OB will be able to tell during the u/s, but I'll let her know that I actually O'd around CD20. I mentioned to her that I was charting when I saw her on Thursday, but I totally forgot that I O'd a little late this cycle.

  • *does the baby boogie on the board*

MWAHAHAHAHAHA! Finally, you have succumbed to the Dark Side!

*ahem* Sorry about that. What I meant to say was congratulations Nicole!!!!!!! How's Brian doing? Ben strutted around like he was Superman...

Jaime is right: if you want a more accurate due date, calculate it from your O date vs LMP - most OBGYNs don't do this, presumably because they figure that most people probably don't get their O date right. I was 100% certain about my O date, so I actually lied to my doc about my LMP - I shifted the date a few days so that our estimated due dates would be the same. I'm tricksy like that. Wink Anyway, I'd calculate it just for your own peace of mind, because like Jaime said, that way you won't worry if they don't see much on your ultrasound (since the dates are an entire week different, you'd see a week's less worth of growth than they would expect - know what I mean?).

And I'm sorry about the accident - but I'm really really glad you're OK!

  • CONGRATULATIONS!!!

    Here's to a happy and health 9 months :)

  • Congratulations, Nicole!  So exciting!  Good luck and have a happy and healthy 9 months!

I wish I had thought to do this.   I, too, was 100% certain about my O date, but she was insistent about going from my LMP.  Oh, well, mine's only about 4 days off.

Yeah, my first doc wouldn't even consider working from an O date. It wasn't too far off (I think only 4 days, like yours) but I knew it would bug me to see the wrong date for the next 40 weeks...of course, now I know that since we're really unlikely to make it to either date it didn't really matter anyway, but I'm still glad that I get to see the right date on all the paperwork lol.

  • Aww!!  Congratulations!  Hope PT does the trick and that you'll be better soon.  The cards are so cute!  Pls let us know their reactions.
  • Congratulations, Nicole!!  I'm so happy for you!

  • Nicole - since it is 5 days off based on how you calculate it, some ob's won't change your EDD... i don't know why, i guess they just don't believe that you could have possibly known when you O'd ...but usually they won't change EDD based on u/s unless it is more than 1 week different... miss A was always measuring about 4-6 days head and they never changed her EDD (plus, we also knew when exactly I O'd so there was no point, we just knew she was growing fast!)

  • Woo hoo Nicole and Brian!  That's fantastic...what a Valentine's gift!  I am so sorry about your hit and run (saw your post on FB)...I hope they find that jerk!

For now, rest and relax and enjoy the beginning of this fantastic ride!  You'll have a new little one by Halloween!  How exciting!

I O'd on CD26 when I got KU with Libby...I had to convince the nurse to adjust the EDD from the little wheel they use for LMP (Which was 04.15.09) and would have had her EDD nearly 2 weeks early!  Considering I ended up being induced at 39w2d (orginally 38w4d) that means that Libby could have been 3-4 weeks early!  Scary stuff.  If you KNOW when you O'd make sure they go with that date and not your LMP!

  • congrats congrats congrats!!!!  so very exciting!!!
