Re: OMG. We got the house!
The outside isn't horrible but the awnings would be the first thing on my list to go. You lose any credit for the shutters with them on there.
And my DH would kill for that coffee nook. He is desperately looking for an excuse to use our bar stools and our new apt. just really doesn't have the space.
We helped a friend take awnings off their house and it really depends on when they were added. Their awnings were just screwed on years after the siding so it wasn't so bad. They did repaint the whole house shortly after, they were planning on it anyway, but it was very faded under the awnings.
I've heard stories about the awnings going up before siding though and in that case you could run into problems. The other issue would be if there is rot behind the awnings. Hopefully you dont have these issues but it might be worth having your home inspector check it out just so you know what you are getting into.

hawki, thanks for the landscaping advice! Perennials and simple shrubs sound good to me.
Speaking of outside stuff, I have a yard! And an ugly painted concrete back patio that is covered. So eventually I'll need a little patio set and grill!
I'm ridic excited over that coffee nook.
And i'll have a dishwasher and washer and dryer! NO MORE QUARTERS!
