Mesa Alta Came Through

The bank verbally countered our 250,000 with 254,000.

And I think we're going to pass.

We've seen bigger and better since then that will require less work.

On the one hand, I hate to let it (and $8,000) go, but on the other do we want to feel like we could have done better?

Hmmm.  WDYT?

Re: Mesa Alta Came Through

  • Wait, why would you lose 8k????

I totally agree with you . . . but how are you losing money if you pass?

Ditto....why would you lose 8k?  I think if you feel that there's something better out there based on what you've been finding since putting the offer on Mesa Alta, it might be worth continuing the search to find a better house for you guys.  Ever since you first mentioned Mesa Alta I never got the impression you were 100% sold on it being "the one."

  • The $8000 being the homebuyers tax credit they'll lose out on.

If you're not a 100% on it then I would pass.  I can't remember but wasn't your offer the only one the bank had received?

    Ooohhhhhh . . . . that DOES suck!

Didn't they extend that program, though?

  • I think if you have seen "bigger and better" passing on the house is worth not getting the $8,000 tax credit.  You will hopefully be living in the house you eventually decide to buy for a long time, don't chose something now based on teh $8,000.

This for sure.  I think if there is even a doubt in your mind that this isnt "the one" I would have to say pass.  This is somewhere you will be raising S and be for a while, I would hate to see you sell yourself short for 8K.

    Couldn't agree more.
