What's over your toilet?

Might as well kick off a dreary Tuesday morning with a random question.

Re: What's over your toilet?

  • Um, nothing.

  • Over the guest bath toilet we just have a towel rod. We figured more people use that one and we wanted to have the towels close by. In our bathroom though, we have a barn star. It goes with the picture that has rolling hills with outhouses on them, grazing sheep, and a little border of stars on the bottom.

  • Nothing at all? No cabinet, standup shelving, towel rack, picture?

  • We have a towel rack with 2 hand towels over our toilet.

In college we had one of these storage rack things over the toilet (but it definitely wasn't this nice) that we kept all of our toiletry items on.  I dropped a couple of important items in the toilet that year.  I'll never use one again

    Why so sassy, Philly?

We have some framed pictures that we got at Ikea... which, I highly recommend for cheap framed art, btw.  I should take a picture to show you because it matches our paint perfectly and it looks pretty nice.  I'm so not a decor person, so clearly I'm proud of this.

  • Nope, nada!

I have a towl rack in front of the toilet, attached to a wall.

Toilet paper/soaps/cleaning crap goes under the sink.

Trash can right next to the toilet, shower on the other side.

I may have a picture - hold on!

  • gmk, oh yes, I've lost quite a few things in my toilet from having standup space savers, yet I think they're so functional.

In our new house there's currently nothing but wall.  I'm thinking a cabinet. Even though our linen closet is in the bathroom, and there is storage under the sink, I want a place to hold magazines and maybe towels.

  • In the master, nothing. It's too tiny. The master is set up where the vanity is in the bedroom and the "bathroom" portion is just the tub and toilet in a tiny little space.

In the hall bath, there is a free floating cabinet for all our guest towels and DH's toiletries.  I prefer to have a towel bar with decorative towels above the toilet but when you rent, you take what you get.

We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

Lol...wasn't meant as "sassy"...I had to think about it!  In my head it more of a "uuuummmmmmmm....hmmm what is over my toilet".

    I need more coffee.

  • Damn you, internet and your inability to read tones!!

I am feeling sassy today.  I am pissed at the IRS.

  • In the 1/2 bath, we have a towel rack. It is literally the size of an airplane bathroom in there (back in, back out), so there's really no room for anything else.

The upstairs bath has a towel rack above the toilet too, which i don't understand because there are 2 other towel racks in that bathroom (and it isn't even big), so I am considering replacing it with some type of cabinet or storage shelving because our bathroom is low on storage.

  • In our guest bath, there is a large picture, directly across from the toilet there is a towel rack and a small shelf above it with a couple decorative items.

In our master bath, there is a towel rack that has a glass shelf above the towel bar with a couple decor items.

In the upstairs bath (by far the biggest one), the toilet is off to one side and there is a tiled partial wall that sort of hides the toilet built up from the vanity.  Over the toilet there is nothing, but I thought it would look wierd since the mirrror for the vanity ends right over the half wall and there is a window on the wall next to the toilet just not behind it.

The worst. I've had a few toothbrush casualties in my day. But it is so convenient having all your stuff right there.

Our master bathroom is like this and I absolutely hate it.  I've been tempted to build a wall so many times but I feel like it would really close off our bedroom and the space would still be awkward because it would be so narrow and the door would have to open into the bedroom or there wouldnt be room.

  • Yay, megs - get on it!

Here's a picture of the bathroom. You can't really see that wall at all because of the shower. What would you recommend?

It's very 1970s of our house, and I thought I would hate it, but I actually kind of like it.  I never have to worry about my toothbrush getting contaminated, and the floor I shed the most on (while doing my hair) is carpet and super easy to clean up. I'm sure the mornings I have to use the blow dryer and DH is still sleeping, he's not terribly happy. But he never complains. :)

  • Mamie - are the walls navy blue? I bet a white cabinet would look nice:

    http://tinyurl.com/y8973e5

At my old apartment we had a HUGE bathroom, and it had 2 cabinets, a mirrored cabinet over the sink, and a white one over the toilet. I really miss having all that storage...

  • If you are planning on keeping that color, I would go with a white cabinet, too! It will be kind of hidden away, but it will still look nice and give you a lot of extra storage.

If you are going to change the walls, what color will it be?

  • This color is more like this (I took it with my camera)

    image

Definitely thinking white if we do the cabinet. I'm still not decided on what I want to paint (and I may not do it for a few months), but I'd like to do an avocady green like dobs' bathroom or the hearts of palm you chose, kaley. But my H isn't keen on that color. :-/

We explored green in the bathroom this weekend at the new house and it was a big ole fail.  Somehow the lovely spring green we selected appeared neon in the bathroom.  I'm no longer allowing DH input and I'm looking for a sage green.

  • Our bathroom is almost exactly the same color blue (maybe a bit brighter), and we have a white cabinet above the toilet. We also have a mirrored cabinet over the sink and our bathroom isn't very big at all. It's nice to have the storage.

  • I really like the blue color (ours is very similar) and I think the white cabinent would look great.  I would go with something functional and simple since its hidden away and not going to be a focal point anyway.
