Stupid questions...

Ok, I'm closing at the end of June, so when should I start packing and how do I pack? lol I've never "moved" before. I mean I moved into this house when I got married, so I only had a few things when I lived with the 'rents, otherwise everything else was brand new (ex. furniture, appliances etc.). We're only in a 2 bedroom townhouse, so we don't have a ton of stuff, but we do have enough that we'll hire movers to move the big things. But, what about all these little things? Can I just chuck them in a box? lol How do I organize? I don't know where to start. =(

Re: Stupid questions...

  • I label everything and put like things together. One thing that I did when we moved in Jan. that worked out well is, instead of packing the clothes, I took out the drawers and put them in a garbage bag and tied it. They went in the truck laid on top of each other. When we got to our new house, I just put them back in the dressers- only some minor rearranging. They mostly stayed folded. Have fun!

The drawer thing musiscout mentioned is big.  We did something similar, we took the drawers out and wrapped them in stretch/plastic wrap from Staples and absolutely nothing moved in them.  I wrapped anything I could in that plastic wrap, lol, it was the best investment.  I had endtables that I didn't even empty, just plastic wrapped them shut so the drawers didn't slide open.

Other than that, just make sure that you pack everything by the room and clearly mark the box where it goes.  I wrote it on the top and 2 sides of every box.

The plastic wrap looked like this with the handle, and you can find it by the shipping supplies:

  • Nova also wraps her husband up in it ;)
  • Thanks for the ideas ladies! I like the plastic wrap idea...I'll definitely use it.

    LOL Cyndi...whatever works for ya!
