Swim lessons
The heartbreaking post from Gina got me thinking when is the best time to have your child learn how to swim?
We will probably never own a home that has a pool, but I still want my child to learn how to swim. It only takes a second for something to happen and if God forbid something happens and they fall in they would at least know how to save themselves, hopefully.
I didn't know if there was a certain age that they say to start taking them for lessons.

Infant lessons are popular around here, and I think it's a good idea. They can't swim, but they can at least learn how to float and save themselves.
My sister and I did swim lessons when we were 4 and 5. I Loooooved it
When DH & I have kids, I will definitely be signing them up for lessons!
I never took swimming lessons as a child, and never learned how to swim properly. I always knew how to tread water and swim around in general, and I was always confident in the water.
I will say that open water swimming terrifies me (lakes, ocean, etc), but that has nothing to do with lack of swimming knowledge.
I will probably enroll my child in swimming lessons as early as possible, because I do think it's a good skill to have.
I'm thinking I might start them out whenever the earliest we can do it.
my niece will start taking "mommy & me" swimming lessons this summer. right now she's about 15 months.
