Baby Pool

OK, I'll be nine months pregnant tomorrow.  Anyone care to start making some guesses?  There's no prize, just bragging rights.

Re: Baby Pool

  • Totally having a girl.  Smile
  • Okay, I'm confused.  I know this makes me sound like a dumb ass, but....

If you're nine months pregnant, should't you be having a baby right about now?  But your ticker says you still have 29 more days to go.  Confused

    Educate me!

  • boy. Do you have any names picked out?

  • don't feel bad Kasa, it is confusing. That is why when you ask a pregnant woman how far along she is, she will answer in weeks.  Other moms and current pregnant ladies will totally get and non-moms are like why is she talking weeks.

pregnancy is 40 weeks long, however what is even more confusing the first two weeks are from the your last cycle. So when you are four weeks pregnant, you really only conceived two weeks ago.

I think this explains it better

And because of the way doctors calculate pregnancy ? 40 weeks starting on the first day of your last period ? you may not actually be pregnant until week 3, when the sperm meets the egg. But by the end of week 4, your fertilized egg has become an organized ball of cells and the embryo has implanted into the wall of your uterus.

  • Month One (Weeks 1-4)

    Month Two (Weeks 5-8)

    Month Three (Weeks 9-13)

    Month Four (Weeks 14-17)

    Month Five (Weeks 18-22)

    Month Six (Weeks 23-27)

    Month Seven (Weeks 28-31)

    Month Eight (Weeks 32-35)

    Month Nine (Weeks 36-40)

  • Fun!

And Kasa, pg typically lasts 40 weeks, which is between 9 and 10 months (due to some months having 4 weeks and some having 5).  Usually the due date is 9 months from a postive test, but at that point, you are usually around 4-5 weeks pg already.

  • Ok, Kerri,

When I got to the boy/girl portion I was stumped. I don't have a strong feeling either way, but leaning more towards boy.

Yep!  Boy name is decided.  Girl name is narrowed down to two.

I'm stumped too!  I kind of feel bad that I don't have Mother's Intuition or strong feelings either way, but I'm on the fence!

  • Sooo... if you go 40 weeks (or more), than you're 10 months pregnant?  So for women who go, say, two weeks pass their due date, then they're 10 and a half months pregnant?
  • Sorry to hijack your post, KerCo. Angel

This is totally rare, but I'm one of those weirdos who could let this pregnancy continue on to the 40 week mark easily.  Most women are begging are for it to be over at this point.  Not me.  I'm hoping baby stays put for a few weeks longer! I'm not quite ready!  I'm also not uncomfortable and miserable though, which prob makes a difference.  The baby has definitely dropped though, so I may not make it as long as I'd like.  I'm done with work after next Thursday.  So I'll be off until I deliver and then another 16 weeks of leave after that.  Boo-ya.  I won't be going back to work until November, close to Thanksgiving if I deliver around my due date.  Doesn't that sounds like ages away?  It'll probably fly by.  The whole pregnancy did.

Are you guys keeping your names secret?

Nick and I have a name we're both sworn to secrety on, and I'm not even pg!  We don't want opinions from friends/family, and we don't want anyone we know to steal our name.

Okay, I didn't open this post this morning because I totally thought it was a question about swimming pools for babies and I was like, "Well I definitely won't have anything to contribute to that!" But then when I saw so many responses, my curiosity got the better of me and lo and behold, you're not talking about swimming at all! Well, how about that.

I loved being pregnant. Going overdue is definitely not con-list worthy, IMO.

Glad to hear you're ok with going over, KerCo. If Babeski needs to stay put, then he/she needs to stay put :o)
