Wow, I think I've had too much coffee this morning.  I'm all jittery.  I guess that's what happens when you don't drink coffee for a few days and then have 2 big cups.

I'll live. It's just, why Friday? You know? Oh well. So Kasa, still on the planning for vacation? Some of our friends did Cabo for their honeymoon, I think they really liked it, but said they would have not done the AI package for the specific hotel they went to. They liked wandering around town and getting food out and about instead.

Yep, still vacation planning.  I have concerns about how much we'd enjoy an AI in Cabo.  But I think it has the potential to be pretty awesome, though.

  • TheWop, did you end up booking a vacation in Mexico?

I lean toward Barcelo.  It seems like you can choose whether to have the AI package or not, which is kind of nice.  A friend went to Cancun and their resort allowed them to buy the AI package on a day to day basis.

If you love a plethora of food options at any hour, you should really think about cruising.

Would you consider a cruise to be a highly relaxing and reasonbly romantic atmosphere?  That's basically what we're looking for. Plus the options to totally veg out at a pool/beach, or stay busy with activities if we feel so inclined.

I think a cruise is as relaxing as you want it to be.  You can choose relaxing, beach-type excursions and avoid shows/activities on the boat.  You can even just ask a taxi to take you straight to the beach whenever you come into port.  If you are looking for relaxing, I would look for something with about the same number of at-sea days as days in port and possibly look into a cabin with a balcony so you can hang enjoy the view in peace and quiet.  If you want to do an active excursion, there are options for that, too (like Mayan ruins, biking through the town, etc.).

The pools can become a bit crowded during at-sea days, but there is usually an "adults-only" area near the spa that is not too bad.

I would say the atmosphere is reasonably romantic.  We cruised on our honeymoon and I thought it was romantic.  You could go to the spa and get a couples massage, that would be romantic.

You might want to look into Norwegian, which has freestyle cruising, so you set your own dinner time each night rather than having an assigned time.  There are always plenty of 24hour food options, but most cruiselines assign an early or late dinnertime option for the main dining room.  Norwegian does not do this.  I think freestyle also doesn't have you assigned to a set table like other cruiselines.

This is very appealing to me.  I'll look into it.  Thanks for your help!

No, they aren't romantic at all!  I'm not a cruise fan, but we will consider them for Alaska.

    I like the Alaska cruise.

It also tends to be less single/party type -- more older couples and families.  It makes it quieter.

Another random...getting job rejection letters on a Friday is LAME. I'd much rather get them on a Monday.

    No

    I hate rejection letters.

I'm sadly getting used to them. Crying

  • If you were going on a 2-hour kayak tour, would you tip the tour guide?

I feel clueless when it comes to tipping etiquette.
