Hello all,
I just got married 1 month ago and I finally have time to go change my name. I know that I have to go to the Social Security Office first, but my question is, do I have to wait until I get my new social security card before I go to the DMV? I tried calling the DMV and was put on hold for 20 minutes with no end in sight.
Thanks in advance,
Stephanie

Re: Changing your name
They didn't change my name on my registration either - I just renewed my license online for the past 2 years, and then this year FINALLY went there in person and changed my name on the registration.
I think the SS office gave me a paper to give to the DMV.
In Michigan, I think you only need to bring your marriage certificate to the secretary of state. I only changed drivers lic - I need to get registration and title to veh switched over too. I also need to get social security card changed too - I have kinda been forgetting about that. And we got married in Dec 2008.
