How long are you waiting TTC?

Ok, with BellaSposa's thread the other day about now that we are all married, it seems like a lot of you ladies are going to TTC right away. I know we are all at different places in our lives, but was just curious how soon you all want kids (assuming you want kids). Are we the only ones who want to wait a few years before trying?

We're waiting probably until next June, July or August, preferably July or August.  Because I don't want to be massively pregnant during the summer, it's too hot here!

  • Ha, at our wedding, people started taking bets on when we'd have our first child. The thing is, we're waiting a few years too! And they knew that... but I suppose it is the next question people ask. We'll see what happens. But you're not the only one waiting a few years :)
  • We will wait at least one year. In our premarital counseling, our counselor suggested that, even though we lived together prior to marriage, we should take at least a year to enjoy each other and then talk kids. He said that couples that have kids w/in the first year of marriage are 60% more prone to divorce. (Disclaimer: I'm not saying any of you would be in that 60%, he was speaking from experience of working with couples). He said it's the most difficult adjustment for a marriage.

Plus, we realize how big of a life change that is, and we want to be selfish for our first year. :)

  • We have a 5 year plan... We won't bring up kids for at least 3ish years and will probably start TTC in 5 years.  We want to buy a house, new car, and get my student loans under control before we bring kids into the equation.  Plus I'm still relatively young (23) and I'm not ready for that kind of life change yet.  I want to adjust to marriage and get established in my career.
  • Fooooooooorverrrrrrrrrrrr

We are not ever going to have kidlets since we have 2 in the house already.

What she said. I think I might be allergic to babies.

  • allergic- hehe :)

So it may not be the popular opinion, but we want more than 1- FI says 3, I say HA!- we'll see.  As I said before, I'm no spring chicken, so we are going the fairly immediate route.  Not that I have any control, but I have 3 nephews, and when I was dancing with my dad at the wedding he said it was time to add a little girl to the mix.

Speaking of dying... I'm dying of laughter over here!

  • We will be waiting.  We have full custody of DH's 2 girls.  11 and 12 year old girls are not easy...does not make me want to run out and be with baby.  Plus I need to have ankle surgery, which is 4 more months off of work...just got a promtion right before the wedding and want to work for awhile before surgery and baby.  Some days after dealing with the raging hormones and attitudes I say no kids - other days I say the opposite.

  • No idea... we first wanted to wait a year, now its looking more like 2 or 3 years. We will see how it goes.

Definitely want kids, but we are NOT even close to ready yet. Plus DH already has a 7 year old. And being around her, makes me realize how im just not ready for our own. Love her to death, and she is the easiest child EVER, but I just want us to enjoy US for a nice long while.

  • We will probably wait until I'm done with school.  I wouldn't care if I was now to be honest, but I can't exactly be around a lot chemicals while I'm knocked up. And that's hard to avoid in cosmetology school.  I kind of need to learn these things.  I'm sure that babies won't be far behind graduation.....we are both fighting off baby fever right now.

A while yet, at least until one or both of us gets a good full-time job.  I  wouldn't mind having one now if we could afford it, but for now it's just not feasible.

  • We're waiting until H is out of law school and we have a house. It will probably be about four years until we are really ready.
  • Apparently, our photog and everyone else around us assumes that it will be within this next year.

Realistically, we would like to wait until our one year anniversary or after.

  • Thats what we're trying to decide. He's turning 29 this month, my youngest is 2 & my other is 4. We want to keep them reasonable close in age & he doesnt really want to have a kid graduating high school after he's 50. Most likely this fall we will start trying. I have an April & a December baby & Spring ones are sooo much easier than winter.

  • I would like to wait at least a year or late this year. I just don't know if that will happen being that H and all our families have baby fever..
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • Well, we planned on waiting until this time next year... but now DH and I have baby fever and who knows... we are going to reassess the situation in a couple of months.

  • He wants to now, and I don't. It's a daily discussion because apparently "I don't understand". I don't know it's a mix of a few things. I wanna it to be just us for a while, I just lost a bunch of weight and I want it to stay that way for a while, and for me 22 is just too young. Not bashing anyone that did have a baby young, but it's not for me yet. I want to wait about 3 years.

  • I am about ready to start, he's getting there. We're no "spring chickens" either, and our situation is a bit different than some others on here. :) We have our house, our new vehicles almost paid off, finishing some school loans, so we're about financially as set as we can be!

  • We'll probably wait a year or two. DH is turning 30 this year, so we don't want to wait too long, but we'd like some time to buy a house, settle in and enjoy being married first.

  • Id like to think we'll wait a year.  We're both 26, & would be 27 when we start trying.  I'd to plan for another May baby-since H & I are only 9 days apart in May & My brother & I share a birthday (not twins).  My brother's hopefully soon to be FI is also in May.
