How was your weekend/holiday?

Mine was nice and relaxing.  We were at the beach (Sanibel Island) with family and though it was a bit rainy, it was nice to hang out with everyone.  Highlight of the trip was the king size bed we had--I need one immediately, I've never slept so well!

In other news, my mom, step-dad and 13 year old step sister are coming to visit on Thursday from Ohio...for 10 days...not looking forward to it.

Re: How was your weekend/holiday?

  • I've had better, not going to lie.
It was nice to go to the beach on Saturday with the whole family. Then me, Pete, my brother, and his girlfriend went out Saturday night in Hyannis and saw one of our friends play/sing at a local bar.  I haven't been out with my brother in years, so that was cool. Then we went home and I watched them do tequila shots. Yaaaay!
  • I feel your pain about watching people drink.  My 20 year old nephew was spiking his Powerade so his grandmother wouldn't catch him and I felt a twinge of jealousy.  How's the pup doing, Hezz?

  • I don't know yet. They haven't finished making rounds. I was supposed to be called if anything happened during the night, so I suppose no news is good news.
  • Our weekend was pretty good.  We did a lot of relaxing, bbqing, eating.  It was fun.  Miles tried watermelon for the first time, which he loved.  Mabel ate her weight in grilled meats, which she loved.  When trying to make my talent video for today's submission, I realized a major problem...our computer is too old (has an older version of Mac OS) that cannot support the version of iMovie that our camcorder needs.  We are so damn lazy and have not yet uploaded any of our Miles videos, so we just found this out now.  So now we've got to get the computer upgraded with the newest operating system, and then update the whole iLife suite.  Pain in the asss.

Hezz, I've been thinking about you guys.  I am vibing so hard for Kenzie to be up and about and ready to come home soon.

  • Mine was good but lazy.  I avoided the heat by watching movies:  2 in the theater (Eclipse and Cyrus) and several on Netflix/TV (Law Abiding Citizen, Stepmom, My Girl, Hocus Pocus, Julie & Julia, Grease).  On Sunday we watched fireworks from a rooftop downtown.
    image
  • Weekend was great - but a residence housing 20 people is anything but relaxing! It was to be expected...holiday weekends we all just pack in.

It was a lot of fun though. Flip cup tournament and a dance off on Saturday, fireworks on Sunday...and the heat wasn't so oppressive while lounging by the ocean. I took second place in the flip cup tourney, and was disappointingly eliminated after the first round of the dance off. I guess my running man and roger rabbit just weren't captivating enough.

Hezz - I hope Kenz will be OK.

  • Mine was alright.  We went camping which is always a good time, but it was cold and a bit drizzly which sucked.

  • I would give anything for "cold and drizzly" right now. This weather is godawful.

We went up to Portsmouth on Saturday for beer. It was fun, I really like Portsmouth. Sunday and Monday we were lazy. I read a lot. And whined about the heat.

  • We did a lot of relaxing and had a pretty great time.  Brett has a co-worker getting married next week, and he is working for like two weeks straight starting tomorrow, so he got Sunday and Monday off.  We really enjoyed a rare long weekend with both of us off.

We went to the city fireworks/celebration on Sunday and it was really fun.  And gorgeous.  I need to watch the sun set over the river more often.  There were some fine specimens of trash there though, and unfortunately they sat right by us.  My favorite quote was "He's the only person I know who has never been to jail."

I hope this was taped for the CGT.

  • We spent a lot of lazy time around the house. We grilled and watched the fireworks. Saturday, we watched Ben Hur. That is one flippin long movie.

I had good intentions and plans for an awesome CGT submission, but I was too lazy to actually make it.

  • If I'm the only one who did my CGT submission, I'm going to be pissed.

And embarrassed.  And I might GBCN.  I curled my hair for you biitches!

  • Speaking of old movies, you know what I watched (I think it was last Thursday night)?  Blue Lagoon.  I had never seen it.  I'd like to go on record by stating that is one of the most unrealistic movies of all time.

And how the fluck did they get away with filming Brooke Shields naked at 14?  But holy sh!t, she was gorgeous...   I don't know what I would do if I had a daughter that looked like her.  I'd really think about home schooling and cutting up her face.

  • I spent the weekend sweating like a whore in church. And dressing like a redneck.
I would prefer if all weekends were 3 days long.

  • Angie, your H looks like E from Entourage (Kevin Connolly).  Does he ever get that?

Also, do you have photos from this WT party you went to?

  • Sometimes. He also gets Justin Timberlake, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Ed Norton. I don't see any of it. I think he looks like a leprechaun.

There are pics - I don't have any in my possession yet, but will share once I do.

  • Weekend was pretty good. Did house stuff/Home Depot runs on Saturday, went up to the lake house in NH on Sunday. Turned out to be cloudy though, boo. Prepped and painted the office and guest room for 11 hours yesterday. I'm tired.

  • My weekend was good.  I forced Mr. Spiderman to play Grand Theft Auto all weekend, so occasionally I'd have to suffer through him recounting what super awesome thing he just did in the game.

Sunday I went to see the Lion King musical with my parents.  I wasn't really excited to go, but my dad was insistent.  The costumes were cool, but I WTF'd a few times during the show.  The fact that the guy who does Timon is dressed up like a freakin leprechaun threw me.  And then the random dancing by a guy whose costume left one asscheek hanging out was really weird.  But the worst was the guy who played the adult Simba.  Oh my, he was bad.  He sang this song and I was so embarrassed to watch him that I almost left.  Oy.
I came home to a ton of fireworks in my neighborhood.  People were going all out.  Anything that goes up in the air is illegal here, I believe, but that's pretty much all everybody uses.  It's such a quick jump over the bridge into Washington to get the stuff.  All the neighborhood fireworks ended very abruptly all at once, so I wonder if a cop drove by.  Either that, or somebody blew their arm off.

Yesterday, Mr. Spiderman's good friend dropped by with his newly pregnant (oops) girlfriend and I had to do my best not to roll my eyes or side-eye her everytime she mentioned the baby on the way.

  • I had a wonderful weekend.  Nothing fabulous happened, but it was good for me.  I got to work from a centrally located starbucks, instead of having to drive all the way to my office on Friday, and I only had to stay until 2.  From there I met up with some friends at the pool for a few hours, and then H took me to see Eclipse. Saturday I got a pedicure, went to a friends house for a bbq and soccer watchin, and was generally a lazy pos.  Sunday was more pool time and laziness, and then we went to a pig roast at our neighbors house.  It was craziness.  The pig was 250 pounds.  I had fun playing corn hole and drinking firefly arnold palmers all night.  Then yesterday we tried to set up all of our tvs to be able to stream netflix and hulu, so we can cancel cable and save some monies.  Sadly we learned that our Wii is dead though, so we couldn't quite make it happen. Then we cleaned out my H's office which made me illogically happy.  I really really really wish all weekends were three days.

  • We had a busy weekend:  took Friday off and played golf then went out to dinner; Saturday night was lobster and steak at the beach house; Sunday we went to our friends' pool and ate and drank.

Yesterday it was so hot I put Ian in his bathing suit and let him sit outside under the sprinkler.

  • went to the cottage Saturday then my sister and her family left and my dad, husband and I celebrated around the campfire.   well, I shouldn't speak for my dad but we were glad she left.

We took Lila into the lake on both days and she LOVED running through the shallow water.

  • I had a pretty good weekend filled with unhealthy but awesome food.

Saturday I had cream puffs for breakfast in the car because I couldn't resist trying Strawberry when we picked up the party tray. Thankfully we brought a cooler which allowed us to stop for lunch and discover the deliciousness that is Rock Bottom Brewery.

Then we proceeded to drive to middle of nowhere PA to meet up with friends. From there, we went to their friends' annual pig roast and I am still dreaming about the stuffing.

There were lots more babies there this year than last and my ovaries just about exploded. My H had somehow managed to get this far without ever having held a baby and a friend just dropped theirs in his lap before he could protest. It almost inspired me to throw my birth control into their firework launcher.

  • We had a good 4th, we watched the fireworks from the balcony of the Capitol, and got to see the PBS concert live with Reba singing Fancy.  We then got to actually go on the House and Senate floor (usually you can't go on either, but the HOuse floor opens for the 4th), Senaor Bennett from Utah opened up th Senate floor and was telling all sorts of stories and showed us his desk.  I also got to meet some great wounded vets and showed them some of the lesser known spots/stories of the Capitol.

Did you have the pretzel appetizer? SO GOOD. If nothing else, I love Bethie for introducing me to hot pretzel with spicy cheese.

No but I think my H would love that cheese. We had Triple Onion dip and  I wanted to lick the dish clean. We may go to one on vacation next week and my plan is to go through the appetizer and beer menu since it will be too effing hot to do anything else.

Yes, it is. Although I may not mind the dry heat after dealing with this disgusting heat & humidity that NJ is experiencing this week.

No joke. Let me know if you want non-chain restaurant recommendations. That can be a challenge in Phoenix...

Also, if you go to the Rock Bottom in Ahwatukee, you'll be right next to my old apartment!

Yes, definitely give me your recs for restaurants. And if there is anything worth leaving the a/c or pool to do, throw those in as well.

But most of all, I need to know how you survived without melting.

  • It's not so bad. Just run from your air conditioned hotel to your air conditioned car to your air conditioned restaurant...

What part of town are you staying? That will help determine where I send you.
