Grumbles and Gripes go here

Re: Grumbles and Gripes go here

  • Sorry, all, for the crappy gripes.

My gripe is that my roommate/landlord's dad and grandpa are here finishing the installation of the hardwood floors. It's great they are finishing because they started in December. It's just loud in here. I had to leave and do a phone interview in my car. Then I went and ran and I need to shower, but there is no way I can do that with them here.

  • I have a wee bit of a hangover.

I was so excited that my Kindle came yesterday and then when I tried to order a cover for it on Amazon, they said it wouldn't ship for 4-6 weeks.  Boo.

    which cover are you getting?

The new leather one by Amazon.  I looked and it seemed like a better set-up than the ones with the straps and I like that it has a band to keep it closed now.  Do you have any suggestions for a better one?

I haven't seen the new Amazon, but I love the M-Edge.  It comes in a variety of colors and has another version that flips to form a platform that stands up to be read.

I'm not really sure I understand the appeal of having the Kindle stand up.  I don't normally want to prop up books to read.  I guess if you're using it as more of a document viewer, I could understand that.  Please enlighten me into the joys of hands free reading if you would.

  • Buddha, I'll echo everyone else and say that it sucks.  I would tell Zane to document all the douche-baggy things the boss says.  You never know when that information could be useful.

  • My gripe:

Our dishwasher sucks, like majorly. Dishes that go in almost clean come out even dirtier. I have tried rinsing every bit of food off, 5-6 different types of detergents, rinse aid and no rinse aid, vinegar in the rinse aid compartment, baking soda . . . everything. I ran the same load of dishes through 4 times with 4 different combinations of things and half still came out dirty.

We have fairly hard water, and the dishwasher is only a few years old (old homeowners installed it) so I thought maybe it was because of the water. However, after googling our type of dishwasher, it seems like a LOT of people have the same problems as we do with that model, with no remedy except a new washer. And a new one is not in the equation right now for us, so I guess I'm just handwashing everything, which sucks but it's better than dirty, cloudy dishes.

even not stood up, I prefer holding the platform style one. I can put my hand between the kindle and the flipped over cover and it is more comfortable. I am sure I am describing it wrong, but it is. I also use the platform one for reading while eating lunch at work.

  • I like to prop mine at an angle when I'm reading it without holding it (while eating lunch, for example), but prefer it at about a 2 inch slant. I have stood it up on my desk, and the cover that opens like a book will stand, but undoubtedly less securely (I've never had it tip over though).  Unlike Mod, I like the case I have because it feels like holding a book.

  • Ah, I see what you're saying about how it feels more like a book.
