Five things...

I saw this on another board, and it's been dead.

SO, five things from everyone.  Ready... Go.

Re: Five things...

  • 1) I think God picked up Lake Michigan and dumped it on Chicago last Friday.  LOTS and LOTS of rain.  Several roads flooded.  I was supposed to go to class downtown on Saturday morning, which is normally a 45 minute commute.  After two hours on the expressway (and being only 2/3 of the way there), I turned around and gave up.  Stupid rain.

    2) Lost two more pounds.  Yay for weight loss!  Woot woot!  I'm seriously feeling all vampire-ish with good smelling food, though.  There's something about sitting next to a husband that's eating italian food and knowing that you can't have any that really kills morale.

    3) I have to stop looking at home listings.  We haven't had any interest in our condo, and really aren't planning on getting a home for another year.  It's depressing seeing all the homes I can't have.

    4) I want a samoyed.

    5) I am now a month on the no-coffee wagon.

  • Huh? What kind of things?
  • imagedvshaw:
    Huh? What kind of things?

Five things that come to mind.

  • 1. Boss lady is in China... WOOT.

    2. I'm almost done with my grant writing. Goal is to have it done by Friday so I can enjoy the weekend double WOOT.

    3. Attempting to groom your very furry dog at 9 pm on a Sunday for the first time is NOT recommended.

    4. We're going to the farmer's market tonight... they have this KILLER buffet.

    5. We sold a headboard on craigslist... charged $50. The buyer gave us 2-$20s, and 10-$1 coins. She said that's all they had. WHO DOES THAT?

  • imagedvshaw:

    4. We're going to the farmer's market tonight... they have this KILLER buffet.

Do you have a Whole Foods by you?  Have you ever seen their salad bar?

Oh yes. But the farmer's market buffet trumps it. It's like the whole foods salad bar on crack. The homemade Samosas are HEAVEN.

LoL, take a picture when you're there.  I'd love to see the salad bar that puts Whole Food's salad bar to shame.

  • 1.  I am working today....I am usually off on Mondays but am covering today.  Mondays suck butt....

    2.  I set my alarm for 6:30PM instead of 6:30AM but I still woke up at 6:40AM.....that could have been bad.....

    3.  My supervisor is off today...woot!

    4.  I actually sat down yesterday and planned/booked hotels for out trip to Europe in September.  It just hit me that we are REALLY going....I'm excited.

    5.  When I was leaving this morning a lady was going for her morning walk with her baby, and I was jealous.  I actually can't wait to get pregnant and quit my job and push my baby around the block at 8AM... Big Smile

    6.  I can add one more....I really want a large chef salad with mounds of ranch dressing....yummo.... Stick out tongue

My sister is finishing up the last of her "house projects" and had to go pick up a shower stall she'd ordered at Home Depot.  There were police there breaking up fist fights in the plumbing aisles over sump pumps because people had flooded basements from all the rain!

  • 1.  I had a horribly vivid dream last night about my husband leaving me.  It was awful and I woke up sobbing.  I confess to punching him over it in that minute span of time where you haven't figured out you're awake yet.  Embarrassed

    2.  After a year span of thinking we had our dog's car-sickness figured out, DH didn't figure out the timing right of feeding her and giving her dramamine before we left on Friday so we had to stop not once, but twice on the way to the lake to clean up the back seat of the car.  I felt so bad for my puppy who was obviously miserable.

    3.  The fish tacos this weekend were a big hit but the corn salad was even bigger!  Yummy.

    4.   I'm getting my hair cut tonight and its been too long since I last did it. Can't wait to get it off my neck again!

    5.  I desperately want to quit my part time retail job and have weekends to myself again but we need the $$ so I can't yet.  If DH and I want to have a kiddo in the next year, I don't know how we'll afford daycare without it either.  It gives us just that little extra cushion we need to not feel so pinched.  *sigh*

  • 1.  My CW needs to grow up.  She's been filing a bankruptcy for 2 years (yeah, it doesn't take that long) because, "they had so much paperwork to complete!"  Whatevs, it's because your H was dragging his feet on filing 10 year old taxes that he didn't want you to know about!  In the meantime, she's spending like crazy: 1.5 week trip to FL including Disney and she's buying an iPhone tonight.  When I tell you you can't afford it, like the many other things I tell you you cannot afford, that means, keep your money business to yourself, moron.

    2. I'm very stressed about my father's procedure on Wednesday and hope that he doesn't have to have the 2nd procedure on Thursday.

    3. I'm so not excited that classes start in less than a month.  The countdown has begun.

    4. I miss NY and my friends and wish Ed McMahon (sp) would knock on my door so I could quit my job and move.

    5. I want a puppy.  Someday.

    Matt loves Munkii!!!

OH you do that....  I'll skip through the damn neighborhood....hehe...

I'm glad your sister didn't get any water!   I know a lot of people in the Lombard-ish area did.

A college friend of mine's condo building garage flooded...her car is under 6 feet of water! To make it worse, that car is her baby - it is a VW GTI she has been keeping up and modifying for years - so basically, irreplaceable. So sad! I'm glad to hear that you are ok, Karen!

    Ok, my 5:

    1. I'm really, really freaking tired today. Sigh. Mondays.

    2. I got all my thank-you cards written for the baby shower my mom threw for me over the 4th. I feel bad that they don't seem as genuine as the ones I did after our wedding. I really do appreciate everyone's gifts!

    3. I'm really anxious to get rid of the rest of the junk in the room that will be Liam's nursery. We are about 70% done, just need DH to go through the remaining papers and find someone to buy our coffee table and tv stand...I want to get a move on! I can't imagine I'll have that much more energy as my due date gets closer.

    4. I bought a diaper bag last night on Gilt and I'm really excited about it. It is normally close to $200 and I got it for about $60.

    5. I'm so grateful that we never lost power during the big storm in DC yesterday. I don't think I could have survived if we'd not had A/C!

  • 1. Our new "old" house is a major construction zone. Floors all ripped out, popcorn scrapped off the ceiling, no toilets, master bath torn down to the studs, etc.  I think it is in it's worst state because our contractor friends start building it back up today (starting with the master bath).  Home renovations are supposed to be fun but I am having a hard time wrapping my head around that idea because I am pregnant and feel like a ticking time bomb.  We give our 30 day notice at our apartment this Friday so crossing my fingers that the house will be ready to move into by August 28th (our drop dead date).

    2. My husband is as cool as a cucumber about the house and baby.  He told me not to start stressing until he does.  I am just not wired that way and wish I could let go more.  Any suggestions on learning how to be less of a worry wart and control freak are appreciated!

    3. I still haven't bought any baby things (with the exception of a dodger onesie).  Should I just wait until after my baby showers to purchase anything else?

    4. I was locked out of my work computer this morning.  Bank security is super tight on our computers.  It took a while for me to get logged in which is awesome because that sucked up at least an hour of my day.

    5. I am so looking forward to fall.  It is my favorite time of year (I could take a gamble and say that most of us feel that way on this board since we all got married in Oct).  I can't wait until the leaves change and the air gets crisp.

Munkii-  T&Ps for your dad and entire family.  My father had two stints placed in arteries near his heart over 10 years ago and it was a scary experience but he is still doing really well.

This (minus the quitting the job part)!!  I am looking forward to being a wife and mom during my 3mos of maternity leave.  Even if it is the hardest thing in the world, I am still excited to have that time to bond with my child and actually nest!

  • 1. I am LOVING my new car. I admit I have been taking many trips out and about that I didnt need to just so I can drive the car. :)

    2. I am exhausted today for some reason and I had plenty of sleep last night. I hate Monday's.

    3. I am pissed that I lost my sunglasses today at the nail salon. I had them on my head and they must have fallen off. Of course they didnt find them :( I have had those for 4 years, normally i loose them after a week or two or they break.

    4. All of my friends keep asking me what we are doing this weekend for my b-day, but I just can't decide this year. I am the planner of the group and I just dont feel like doing it this year. Can't someone else plan my b-day for me like I do for everyone else?

    5. My dog is being really bad and DH says we need to get training for him, but he wont commit to a day. We both have to be at the training class. Grr. Pick a day already.

  • 1) I'm off today, and really don't want to leave the house; per the ortho, I'm supposed to try yoga- I HATE yoga. Then it's to the grocery, and the ortho for a cortisone shot, and a discussion as to a dx of my knee. He's thinking arthritis, but I'm an active 36 y/o, and that depresses me all to hell.

    2) It's day 70 in the wait for the short sale house, and I've started collecting packing supplies- something has to happen soon. DH promises that if the deal falls through, we're going to Vegas.

    3) Remembering to try and stop by the indian market after my appt. I need something 'different' to put in my pressure cooker.

    4) I should probably brush my teeth if I'm going to yoga.

    5) Had a nice walk with Karma (the whippet) this morning. We went to starbucks instead of our usual route. I decided that i really like walking- I do an awful lot of it.

    Have a great day ladies!

That bag makes me want to have babies.

  • Cute diaper bag Angela!!

Nicole- I would def wait until after your shower to start buying things.  You will get most of what you need, plus tons of clothes, and then you can take inventory afterward and only get what you still really need. That way you don't risk having to return lots of stuff. Or having so many clothes that you can't even use all of your baby's outfits. Yes, this happened to my mom.

  • 1. This has been a really rough few days and it doesn't seem to be getting better.

    2. I'm working on wedding invites for a client from hell. Everything seems to be fighting me, including the client.  I just want to be finished and done with her.

    3.  I just got off the phone with my mom and found out my grandpa was just admitted to the hospital for some type of bacterial infection in his blood. He went to the ER twice over the weekend for different problems. Doctor found out for sure what it is today and admitted him. He's 89 and has been going downhill the past few months.  I'm trying really hard not to really think about it, because I just don't want to go there.

    4. We were supposed to go on a float trip with family and close friends this Saturday and that seems to be falling apart (see #3).  And I REALLY needed a day to get away for some fun and relaxation (see #2).

    5. I can't believe it's the end of July already. Where has the summer gone? Can you believe our first anniversary is only a couple months away??

Sorry to hear about your grandpa... can I ask what type of infection? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. T&P with you!
