How you feeling, punkin?

Re: Noisy!

  • Are you home?  How's that bay-bee?
  • I was going to say hello yesterday and then I got distracted. We got out of the hospital on Tuesday morning. I'm doing pretty well, aside from the whole not sleeping thing. I'll type up the birth stuff at some point, but probably not now. She was 7 lbs and 5 oz - exactly 4 lbs smaller than Will - and 20 inches. She has skinny little arms and legs and all her newborn clothes are baggy. I can't believe how small she is.

Will is doing really well with Evie. I think any jealousy issues he's having he's taking out on me (I've been bitten once and had my hair pulled once - two things he hasn't done to me for like, a year), but he likes her so far. Yesterday she was laying on the ground and Will shook various toys for her for about 15 minutes.

    Anyway, here are some pictures.

  • Oh my goodness, they are so sweet together. Congrats Noisy.

  • I am all teared up right now. She's gorgeous.

And yay you, you must have kicked ass with the GD diet!

    Hurray for Evie!

  • Ohmiga, they are just so cute together.  What sweet pictures!  And you are such a cool mom to let Will pick out her coming home outfit.  His choice leads me to believe that, despite all your trauma at 8 weeks, he is not gay.

One of the NICU doctors came to talk to me for a few minutes and said that if she hadn't been told she would have had no idea I had GD. It made me feel pretty good. She also told me she had a "c-section head," and I was all, "um...what does that mean?" Just that her head was round and not pointy. I was deliriously tired and was imagining all sorts of awful things.

  • You look radiant! She is so beautiful, the pics of her and Will are just too cute.

    Welcome home, lady!

Did you have a c-section or just get her out so expediently that her head didn't get misshapen?

Sean had a round head too.

  • No c-section. She just came out pretty quickly. Lorne was talking me up to the nurses and telling them that Will came out in just a couple pushes, and I got mad at him and told him that he was jinxing me to pushing for 4 hours. But she also came out in two pushes. The whole thing went really quickly, they started the foley bulb thing at 5:30 PM and she was out before 1:30 AM. Since Will's went unusually quickly for an induction we were prepared for this to last much longer than it did.

  • Has anyone ever told you you're a very efficient birther? ;)

  • She is precious!!  I love Will in his Will shirt - I bet there will be lots of funny stories about him as he adjusts to being a big brother!

Seeing her really puts it into perspective how big Will actually was as a newborn.  :-)

Congrats to your new family of four (!!!)  :-)

  • Beautiful pictures!  I love Will's smile in the one where he's sitting on the bed.
  • Oh yay!  I love all of the pictures.  The one of Will on the floor next to her is just too wonderful.

I have something in my eye.  Honest.  I'm not getting all emotional like over your pictures.  Yeah.

  • How are pronouncing Evie?  EE-vee or EH-vee?  I love her name either way.  :-)

this gives me hope since i was worried pushing him out in 3 pushes was a fluke. i also got the csection head comments and in fact a friend said she was sure i had a csection and thought i was lying.

  • I love the pictures. They make me want to whip out the paraguard panflete about removal. How's nursing going?
    image Ready to rumble.
  • It's going well, mostly! She latched on right after birth and wants to eat all the time. She's got quite the strong latch though, and I've had some cracking issues. I've bought stock in Lasinoh though, and got some of the soothing nursing pads that I remember helping when Will finally got the hang of nursing and things are looking up. All my nursing tanks from last time are too small though, so I'm kind of busting out of them and it hurts to wear them when I'm engorged. If my MIL wasn't here I'd be walking around topless.

    image

  • for the cracking i highly recommend submerging the nips in 1 tsp salt disolved in about 1 c. warm water for 1-2 minutes after you nurse, it heals and soothes.
  • I'll definitely try that Winged, thanks!

    image

  • oh, and only 3 times a day. don't do it too much or too long or you'll dry them out
  • EEE, what a sweetie!

HunkyLorne holding tiny Evie and reading to Will is the cutest thing in the history of the universe.

  • Awesome pics.  Congrats Noisy & fam!

  • I love Big Brother Will. He looks much more impressed with his little sister than my brother ever looked in my baby pictures.

And ditto what Jens said about the Lorne picture.

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz
