For less then ten cents a day, you can feed a hungry child.
it's not sanitizing. but i was hot sweaty and wanted to feel clean and pretty after it all. why is taking a shower, fixing your hair and putting on makep suddenly fake?
I agree with this.
I had no pretty option. I couldn't lift my arms to comb my hair or put on make up and I was blotchy, swollen and still very drugged up. But I love this picture because ha, I can't even hold my baby properly and look all "Holy crap."
Here I am!
Remember when J posted/tagged a picture of poor Lanie with nip exposed on FB? Oh husbands.
I'm in the "I'd want some ick pics" camp. But not by a pro. Nurses/H's are fine with me. I, too, think the picture of Zane and Ethan is adorable. I don't see getting so hung up on "WHAT IF I AM COMMITTED TO FILM LOOKING LIKE A SWEATING BEAST!?" So you delete it. Big whoop. I'd rather have hideous pics and delete them than miss the moment entirely.
Husbands should be like Kleenex: Soft, strong, and disposable.
There you are, Lanie! And no nip slip.
Edit: DAMNIT. I took too long typing.

you still look adorable, Lanie.
I agree w. Moo in that I could always just never show anyone my "Ick Pics" if I want to throw up upon viewing them, but you can't go back and recreate the moment. The pics afterwards that I talked about, when we stopped and I combed my hair and put on mascara, those are the ones I would send to my family as our "first pic." Just because I want to remember the initial moment doesn't mean I want friends and family subjected to that.
I can't believe you are 32 weeks! Where did the time go?
I figure my friends and family have seen enough made up pictures of me that these wouldn't completely convince them I'm a dog.The second one is literally the very first second the nurse put him in my arms. Nothing can replace that for me.
you look adorable, too, Buddha.
seeing these "just had my baby" photos are getting me really, really excited.
would you be equally excited by bad chin angle?

A friend of mine did a home birth, complete with a pro photographer and someone who did her hair an makeup for her. I found that bizarre.
I have a really good friend who's a photographer, and I'll probably want her there shortly after the baby is born to take some "suitable for other people's viewing" pictures, but J is the only one I want in the room with me for the real nitty gritty stuff. He does photography as a fun side hobby and has a really nice camera, so we'll have plenty of special moments captured on film for just the two of us to share and remember. That's assuming he doesn't pass out, which is a highly possible scenario.
I raise with vanishing chin, greasy hair, and an oompa loompa jaundice baby.
Mucho likes purple nails and purple cupcakes
I think we're talking about a few different things here.
1. Would you hire a pro photographer to photograph you
A. Throughout the birthing process
B. Immediately after giving birth
2. Would you be okay with a friend/family member photographing you
A. Throughout the birthing process
B. Immediately after giving birth
For me, no to #1. As for #2, no to A because I don't think I want anybody else in the room except Mr. Spiderman. But I'd be okay with B. I don't care about ick pictures being taken with just a regular ol' camera. I can choose whether I feel like sharing them or if I'd prefer to share the ones where I look less haggard and my baby isn't so gooey.

aww, Mucho Caliente is still adorable even dressed as an orange! And maybe I'll just do the Lindsay and not look the camera head-on to minimize the damages. : )
I will have the doula snap pics right after the birth (I certainly don't need crowning pics, even for my own stash) so H can ooh and ahh over Pickle and be dutifully in awe of me.
Gah. I love.
You all look great.
omg, Ian is adorable even at minutes old! he's smiling at a 4 month level already. you look so cute and pleased with your son.
awe. The newborns are making my heart squee. I really wish this ttc process went quicker. The unknown is driving me nuts. You all look exactly how you're supposed to look. Exhausted and proud. It's beautiful.
I want pictures taken during and after and I want them ick. But no professionals. I don't even want anyone but Mr Fozzy in the room.
Having a waterbirth helps the postbirth ick factor, HT.
I'm naked in my immediately post birth pictures, so I won't be sharing on this forum. Suffice it to say that they are the single most unattractive set of photos ever taken of me, but I'm glad we have them. Looking at them brings back a little of that amazing feeling I had post birth.
The hair grows in thick where the horn used to be.
This makes me nostalgic.
