Thirsty for the weekend! How's everybody today?
Re: Thirsty Thursday
Can't wait for this weekend to be over! Come on Monday!
Ugh. H's friend is geting married and this stupid wedding has been a complete money-suck. When all is said and done we'll have spent over $600 on this stupid thing. That would have been a decent dining room table.
I wish.
Gah! Thank goodness I am not *in* the wedding. And I totally bailed on the bachelorette party - which I know the bride is upset about. But what the hell!? I'm sorry that you had to plan a bachelorette weekend in Chicago with limos and pole dancing classes and expensive hotels. I'm not flippin made of money.
The suit that my H had to buy was $325! OMG. He is going to wear it once. And he hosted the bachelor party. And he is in charge of alcohol on the trolley. And a bridal shower gift. And a wedding gift. And a ton of other stuff little stuff that all adds up. Ugh.
Sorry that this turned into a really long vent!

You know, I don't get people that cheap out on the reception. That's where you spend the money, because the reception is what people remember!

I hear ya there! I'm at least hoping to have a lot of fun at the reception.
The wedding this weekend is "casual", so it should be fun. This is the last wedding of the season for us, thank God. Three weddings in a row is exhausting, and expensive!
Every part of your wedding sounds fantastic.
I was just talking to my mom last night about how I would change literally 90% of my wedding if I had the chance to redo it.
I'm excited and may become an AW over the next few days.
1) I'm going to be in a blog hop in September. I have to make a project that is back to school themed. THis will be the first blog hop I participate in AND the first time I offer a giveaway on my blog! I'm really excited to see how much activity it brings.
2) I've entered to become a design team member for a blog that I love. The kinda sucky thing is that the members are picked by "popularity contest" on facebook. Basically the people with the most "likes" will become a design team member. Which is where the AW comes in ... I'll be asking for you to "like" my project when the contest starts this afternoon. Again this would be an exciting opportunity for my hobby.
Now off to another boring meeting
Thanks. We wouldn't change a thing. It was not the first marriage for either of us, so we did what WE wanted. I do wish my kids & mom could have been at the wedding, but that wasn't possible financially. And really, the marriage is just about the two of us.
We'll be happy to help!
Yep... we did that too last year when DH and I both stood up in his sister's wedding. And then, when she filed for divorce 8 months later, I felt like sending her an invoice for the money we spent on her wedding for a marriage that lasted less than a year!
I would make a lot of changes to my wedding too if I were to plan it all over again. That's part of the reason I've thought that it might be worthwhile to do a vow renewal -- because there are a few major aspects (like the vows themselves!) that, looking back, I'd kind of like a redo.
Neat happenings! I'll vote for you.
I've thought about that too! We'll see how things are after marriage counseling.
This is a really crappy picture, but looking at it, what color dining room table would you put in there?
Here is a different angle
The floors are a darker "aged cherry" and the cabinets are a meduim oak.
I found this table on CL and it's pretty cheap (and we can't afford anything nice or new right now) but I don't what to do about the color.
Thoughts? Could I paint it? What color? This would just be a short term (in the scheme of things) solution - maybe a year or two or less.
Molly, I think that table that you found would work fine because the color of the wood is enough of a contrast from the floor.
Here are my random thoughts for today:
-I am super tired today, like I could fall asleep at my desk. I'm also not motivated to accomplish anything else for the rest of today. That isn't so good because I have a couple of things that should get done.
-I went swimsuit shopping last night and it was pretty successful. I found two pretty cute suits for $36 total. The best part is that I completed the trip without playing the negative body image soundtrack in my head.
-I got a haircut last night, too, and took off about 3 inches. I feel kinda like a new woman!
I agree with Kasa.
Double success! Good work
