The receptionist always forwards calls to me if she doen't know who they should go to. Well today I got the rudest phone call I've had in the 2.5 years I've worked there. I work for an insurance broker (basically we're the middle man between insurance companies and employers). I answered a call that was transferred to me with our standard greeting to have the woman on the other line ask "Do you have dental?!". I asked her to repeat her question thinking I'd missed something. Nope, she repeated the same question in an even more rude tone. I asked her to what she was referring to, and her reply was "Well aren't you an insurance company?!" I told her we are a broker for insurance and that we don't sell insurance but we can place it. I asked if she was seeking individual or group coverage. She snapped back, "Individual". I told her "unfortunatley we don't broker individual coverage". She then shouts back at me, "Well why didn't you say so ***!" and hung up on me.
What in the world makes someone behave like that?!!! Calls like that make me want to get out of a customer service position.
