Re: pville
I did. 3 or 4 times. It's a little difficult to remain unsnarky when I'm being lectured on the seriousness of racism. If you could put my responses in the context of the flaming I received in this post, that would be a great help.?
These were lovely points.
Why is this necessary? Implying the rest of us did not make our points in a logical fashion?
My point was completely logical, as were Jaime's and Meredith's. Racism -- or oversensitivity to racism -- isn't something to joke about. You can be as rude/snarky/defensive as you want, but it's not going to change my position.
BM* explained her point in a non-emotional, logical way, which is why I responded differently to her than you. Your comment, and that of vtjaime's, were inflammatory, antagonistic, and accusatory. They neither furthered discussion nor made me inclined to view your posts as anything other than the typical vituperative, knee-jerk response to all things pro-Palin.
No one's trying to "change your position." It baffles me why you even feel required to have a position on this thread, a insouciant page to someone. Has E08 died recently? I admit I haven't been on there in a while.
I'm sorry you're feeling so defensive about your "joke".
Do we really need to have the "this is a public message board" discussion? I'm just as allowed to post on A06 as you are, as much as you wish I wouldn't.
Since the ignore feature is not working, why don't we just ignore the people who constantly tick us off.
::backs slowly and cautiously out of post:::
Yes please sit me down and give me a stern talking-to about The Rules. Spank me 'til I'm martyred, soprano. I deserve it. Then maybe tomorrow, if you have time, you can tell me how you feel sorry for my husband.
</snark>
I don't wish you'd leave. I just wish you find and post about something worthy of debate instead of wasting your time berating me over your misunderstanding of a non-issue and then mocking me for being defensive after being flamed.
ok I totally should not get involved but I can't help it:
yes Caden got defensive, but soprano do you really not see/hear how condescending you sound in this thread? perhaps you didn't mean it that way, but thats how it read. Maybe thats why Caden got so defensive. (the bolded part above wasn't the only time in this thread you sounded condescending).
I stopped at "Spank Me" well because it made me giggle and I have a dirty mind.
Yay! I was hoping someone would laugh
Nah. Suits are too binding.
Thank you Irish!
For the record, when someone accuses me of "making light of bigoted crap" without even bothering to determine what I meant, that results in a snarky response, because that's all it deserves.
You can turn it around all you like, but in the end, you're still making light of liberals being offended by racist comments. Call it a joke, tell me I don't understand -- do whatever you need to to feel better. But don't blame this on me.
And you can try to turn this around all you like but you still can't change what I actually said into something I didn't.
