I miss everyone around here!
I keep hoping it will pick back up, but no such luck lately, hah.
So.... post an update on what's going on with you!! Good things, bad things, whatever comes to mind!
I wanna know what's new with all of you!!
Re: Updates anyone??
I'm filled with bad news...
DH got a temporary job... only through the beginning of November, though. And, no chance for staying on, but he can go back on UE after it's over. He does have a phone interview for another place this morning, though.
I'm also getting my position cut in half mid-September...
I will either have to get another half-time job to supplement, a new full-time job or go on UE for my second half.
The only good news I have is that I've lost more weight... seems so trivial compared to the other stuff, though, unfortunately (and is probably caused by the other stuff...)
I know, I know its so slow. Hopefully once it starts getting a little colder and everyone isn't so busy it will pick up.
Not much news here. I am about to start back up for 6 weeks for the migrant program.
I decided I am taking the girls to FL for 2 weeks in October. I can't wait. B will have a blast. I am really hoping DH can come but he is so busy at work we will see.
We have been working on drawing up our house plans. Its so fun!
not much new with me.....
work has started to slow down a bit even though it's the 2nd week of classes.....this semester seems a little less stressful then past semesters. kohl's hours still suck the big one. can't wait until the holiday season when they start killing us with those 12:00 nights....yuck!
in 3 weeks we head to frankenmuth for their oktoberfest...fun time!!! it will be nice to get out of town for a well deserved long weekend.
working with a personal trainer is going well.... even though i'm proving to be quite a problem child with my knee and back issues. my trainer is really great with me. i haven't noticed any kind of difference yet, but i know that it takes time.
other than that, my world has been pretty boring.
My life is probably the most boring of them all, LOL.
Uh, I've done a whole lot of nothing other than celebrate Sammy's 4th birthday. Sammy's going to start preschool. I'm waking up earlier. Hmmm... is it sad that the highlight of my week is Sunday nights when True Blood is on?!
We ARE starting to plan a bit more for the future, though. We're in contact with a realtor who's walking us through the process (even though she knows we're at least 18mo out from buying) and so far she's been pretty right on the money with the listings she's shown us via email. Sam's going to go to Owens instead of doing school online... the online school is kind of $$$ and after all the time the two of us have spent in school already he doesn't really have much financial aid left, so he decided Owens was the way to stretch the money. He goes today to talk to an advisor about starting in the spring. We're starting to really branch out our different sections of photography, too.
Other than that, though, my life is unexciting.
MC - That trip is going to be GREAT! I'm glad you decided to do it!! And yay for working on house plans too!! You'll have to share your final design with us when it's done!
Kris - Bummer about the work hours!
PM - You are totally NOT boring! I'm so excited for Sammy to go to HTDN, and that's really cool about talking to a realtor!! What's Sam going to go into at Owens? Also, I love what I've seen of your new photography adventures.
First of all...thank you for the post below! I'm just getting into my office for that. And let me just say...I WANT this job. I NEED this job. I'm excited about the company! I'm really excited about where they're relocating to (that's where I interviewed this morning...all kinds of construction going on there to renovate the building...they're supposed to 'officially' move in over Labor Day weekend). Hoping in the next couple of days I know something, something positive!
I think that's the only update for me...I think.
I did get a new dress last night for all of next month's festivities. I love it! If I can find a way to post the pic from my cell phone... It's red, strapless, knee length.
Umm.,..anymore...no weight lost...you know about the job thing...DH remains status quo (still awaiting his new orders so he can get his uniform properly prepard for the military ball). Depending on my job situation, we are trying to get to Alabama for a game this season. Considering too going to next Thursday's game in Columbus.
Think that's it.
i'm so sad that summer is over! i started classes at UT on monday. LAST YEAR, YEAH! i'm doing 3 online and 2 on campus in the evenings. i'm not working right now but DH is putting in a lot of time at his job. he works for a civil engineering firm in maumee. they are trying to get a big job at a refinery in st. croix. if they get it, they will start with phase one and ship DH down there for 6 months of surveying. he'd go 2 weeks, come home for a week, repeat repeat until it is done. it would be an amazing opportunity for him and liam and i would be able to visit once or twice. i know the beach would sound so good come december! i'm still worried about what i'm going to do with liam when i go to class and DH is gone.. but we'll make it!
other than that, not much else going on!
I got a job as an RN! So happy that I can put my degree and license to use, finally... DH and I have begun searching for a house to buy. In the past few weeks we've narrowed it down and will probably stay around the Maumee area instead of looking towards Toledo so now I just have my eye out looking for a little treasure while I wait to get paid and start the pre-approval process. Any advice for house shopping in this area would be greatly appreciated!
Monk is way mobile now, walks a lot. I am working on getting things ready for Vacation in October...it will be the longest time we have gone out of town with Monk, and the farthest away and so I want to make sure I have plenty of stuff for him.
DH's work is full of such asshattery that he is pushing to finish getting some certifications and start back on the job hunt. I was really hoping that this was a place for him to make his career..but not with how sh*tty they have been in the past month or so
My mom is getting stronger by the day, she is still a far way from healthy but she is making strides and getting better.
I lurk here mostly but the baby rabies is hitting me hard right now, and seeing all these ladies getting ready to have babies...well it just makes me want to have a little one again...
I guess thats about it..haha
Things are busy over here, DH started law school Monday and switched shifts (2 pm -10 pm) so we hardly see each other. The bright side is he has lots of time to study. I am going between going back to school or not. I can't decide. I swear it changes by the week.
Separately I have been helping a few of my friends planning their weddings and I am being paid (a minimum fund by both). So I think I am going to start an event planning business on the side. I would really like to get in with one of the bigger ones in Toledo but not sure how to do that. I have 3 more brides already scheduled and one DOC so this might work. At least I will have something to do with all my time.
Rock-that sucks
Thanks, guys. We're fortunate enough that we've already been living on a low budget and we don't have any debt besides our low mortgage, so we'll be okay even if I can't get anything to supplement my second half but it still sucks because we're having to put plans on hold (new house, baby, etc.) until it's smart to get back on them....
Katie - Yay for your last year!!! What will your degree be? And that does sound like an awesome opportunity!! Lots of extra work at home for you, but still pretty cool!!
ejay - Congrats on the job!!!! And yay for house hunting!! It's really pretty fun, and there are lots of good deals out there! Do you have a realtor yet? Any particular part of Maumee you're looking at?
Dream - Awww, yay Monk!!! But booooo to DH's employer.
Lisa - Bummer about the different schedules, but GL to DH in school!! And how cool about your business - I hope it goes well!
I've been lurking a lot lately too. Nothing too exciting going on here. Work's been busy with vacationing/sick coworkers.
N8 is walking now too! He's been walking for over a month now, he can run now too! He's been quite the stinker lately, trying to make us laugh to get out of trouble. It's so hard to keep a straight face!
My parents have a divorce hearing this Friday. I really wish this could be resolved quickly, but I'm afraid it's going to drag out forever. I still can't believe the monster my dad has turned into.
I'll have to text it to you...our IT 'guru' has these computers so screwy it just doesn't do anything!
um...Merin...your number isn't on my new phone...I'll pm you...
PM back atcha!
Ooh, fun!! I look forward to the linkage!
Well you should post more too, missy!
I really hope it surprises you and is over with quickly.
Yay for an on-the-go N8!! Any new pictures to share?
Sorry about your parents.
Big kids back in school today. I'm kind of sad. We had a real nice summer in our new house. Really sad seeing the HS half tore up though. Kind of neat knowing if everything goes as planned Caitlin will be attending Lake High School as a freshman the first year it reopens!
Now that fall is fast approaching we are going to tackle some more house stuff. We got a lot done in the spring but now everything has been at a stand still. Looking forward to getting a big chunk done b/f Christmas.
Our 5 year wedding anniversary trip to Mexico is in 2 months!!! I can't wait. I am so excited! Sad to leave the babies but it is a much needed trip for the two of us. We go on big family vacations 2X a year so this is a first w/ just the 2 of us in a long time!
Some fun news ... DH won 4 free tickets to Kalahari, an overnight stay at Kalahari & 4 tickets to Cedar Point for a summer contest at work! I won 4 tickets to African Safari on a FB contest so we are doing a mini weekend trip in October! The kids are going to have a blast! We are leaving A2 behind w/ Grandpa so I'll enjoy it a bit more w/out chasing the baby all day.
Leigh - I'm sorry things are so rough with J and the divorce. It's so nice that you're surrounded with so much happiness and smiling at work though!
Kel - Glad to hear things are going well!! Your trips sound wonderful!! That's really cool that you both won those things, and your trip without the kiddos will be sooo nice I'm sure!
My news is mostly about timot:
Timot has started his final semester of nursing school...can I get an AMEN!? And we are back to not seeing each other. We should get used to it since he wants to work nights and weekends for the shift differential when he gets his RN so here's to hoping!!
He's already got his foot in the door at promedica, (they've all but accepted him into the program) and he's in the mercy system for practicum so I'm not sweating his ability to get a job. Luckily, his current job/boss is amazing and has been super about working around his school schedule.
The only center he didn't want in critical care was burn unit and guess which unit he was assigned to...burn unit. He put in a transfer/switch with another student so crossing our fingers it goes through.
Work has EXPLODED at me so I'm usually always busy. September seems to be shaping up to be crazy...as usual so I'm in and out currently. Who knew that public television was so flippin busy!
And I swear if one more person says..."So now that Timot is graduating you guys gonna have babies"...I'll scream
I lurk when D naps and in the evenings a few times a week. I just don't post that much anymore because whenever I log on, it is the same stuff from yesterday. I wish the board was like it used to be
(
I have an in person interview at that full time job I posted about, I'm 50/50 about it. I'd love it and on the other hand I wish it was a part time job. I'm just afraid if it gets offered J is going to push me to take it. I'm trying not to get worked up, the job market for the type of job it is seems to be very saturated with applicants so who knows.
I've been busy with Davis and trying to get our house in order. I'm on a mission to finish up all the little projects that are nagging. If I do get that job we will be selling our house this spring so I feel like before it gets too cold we need to accomplish stuff. And if I don't get that job and we don't sell the house I still want to get these things done.
I'm really trying to lose weight. I'd love to drop 20 lbs, but at this point would be happy with 10 lbs.
I've had the Mirena for about a month and so far so good!! Loving it!!!
Jill - I can imagine that's a hard decision to make. I'm sure it will work out for the best - whichever way that is. Glad you're liking Mirena!
Crazy busy, but good! I think (knock on wood) that our bad luck streak is over. I really do think that $1k in car repairs (and subsequently getting rid of said car for a new one), frozen new A/C, dead TV and sick cat who won't respond to antibiotics is plenty for one month's time. lol. We've had to delay the rest of our bathroom remodel because of all of this crap, but such is life I guess.
I've been out of town basically every weekend this month for one thing or another, so that's made things even more nuts! And I don't think I have a totally free weekend until like NOVEMBER! Been volunteering a lot still, and have more of that coming up. I always enjoy that. Been playing with my camera a lot more lately too which is always fun.
For our anniversary, I think we're going to stay a night at the Hilton Garden Inn. My parents bought us a gift certificate for a night's stay with breakfast from my silent auction event, so it will be a nice little "getaway" for us without having to spend the $ we don't have, lol.
DH wants to refinance the house, and tells me yesterday at 6:30 that the house is being appraised today at 5. What!? Thanks for the notice! I'm worried that the outdated kitchen will make a difference. And s/o the kitchen, we're thinking it's going to be re-done soon, like in the next few months, we'll see.
Um, what else - not too much, got a canning kit for the tomatoes I have waiting to be used before they go bad, haven't had time to use it yet. Planning to go to the German Fest this weekend, still need to make vacation plans and my brother called me to say they have a wedding date set. Planning to join a gym next month too, after my last school loan payment. (!!!!!) I try to keep up w/everyone on FB too, I know there are a few girls I'm not friends w/on there yet, I'll have to look for ya!
Sorry for the book, but I did want to check in - work beckons, hope everyone has a fantastic day!
