Would you take a job......
In a known dangerous area? I am sometimes worried about how safe I am at work sometimes. I have police escorts to the subway etc... now its really getting to me. Nothing has ever happened but now its not just about me..... time to move on?

It depends. I worked in Baltimore about a block or 2 from some nasty drug activity. But I stayed in the "safer" part of that area and never had a problem.
But I see that your pregnant, and I could see that making me more nervous about the situation. I don't think it would hurt to start looking for something in a safer area while you're still where you are. however, you're going to have to account for the fact that you won't be eligible for FMLA at your next job most likely.

Ditto this. Is there any option to adjust work times, so you're say leaving for the subway before it gets dark? Or working from home, so you're only having to deal with being in the office 2 or 3 days/week instead of 5?
I would do just that... "call it a day" your family's (including your own personal) safety and security is what comes first. Also, if you are entitled to a paid year leave, I would take it if I were you. You just don't need that added stress, especially after what you just mentioned about the chase in the subway. Best of luck hun and I hope it works out for you.
Sorry, wrong thread. And I can't delete for some reason.
