If they're rebranding, they haven't convinced me.

Here's a link to their dresses this season.  I'd wear those if I could!

    Also, I like their suiting.

A lot of the chic secretary skirts are cute too.

Maybe I just dress like an old lady.

The models may not be old ladies, but I find all of those clothes very...mature.

I think they look stylish and professional.  It's all in how you wear it.

But apparently I'm an old person. Embarrassed

I just bought their tweed pencil skirt - I love it.

My interview suit came from there also.

Maybe I'm a 31 year old 'old lady'.

  • i have 2 dresses from there (and they are not for older people). i would actually give an older person the side eye if they had on one. but for the most part i would say their clothes are for 40+. they do have very nice (quality) clothes though.

  • I am 24, some of my favorite work clothes are from talbots. Yes, they have an older following but you can get some really high quality, great looking pieces for great prices. They claim they are 35+ but honestly, if it looks good and makes you feel great who cares?

Really?  Where do you get your work clothes and can you post a linky or pic?  I am not picking on you, I am simply trying to figure out what mature means to you.  I think those dresses are kind of sexy, personally.

  • I actually really like the clothes in the fall catalog, but I'm pregnant and can't wear any of them! Once I lose the baby weight, I'll buy suits and dresses there.

I'm in their demographic though (35+ professional). Before I got pregnant, I bought a really cute t-shirt and skirt there in the spring, and look forward to being able to wear them again.

  • I did a tongue-in-cheek "Ask a Dull Person" thread awhile back.

I said my favorite store was Talbots.

  • It's been my 21 yr old sister's favorite store for years :)

  • I think I'll take "mature" over half the crap I'm seeing on JCrew's website - dresses with shapeless tops and skirts that are too short for work.  One of the most work-appropriate dresses I found there looks like it would fit right in with this one from Talbot's.

  • I just saw this and immediately thought of this thread.  They definitely have a new target audience.

  • Ideas Talbots, I AM one of those 60 somethings! You and I are the same age, and we have grown up together! My friends and I seem to think that we are the generation who can afford to buy, and yet we can't find anything to buy! I still wear my 10 year old silk Talbots dresses with the matching cardigans, but I look like a wanna-be teenager in the flowery polyester number with the cheesy little shrug( to hide arms!) almost every dress is sleeveless today, and yet people my age really don't have attractive upper arms. Where are 60 somethings supposed to shop?
  • Their target customer is the woman who likes classic clothing, and has the budget for quality .

I don't care who shops there - I love the Talbot items I own.

  • Plus 77. I'm 42 and would not be caught dead in their clothes.
