We're now "Officially" TTC.

Is it odd that I haven't told anyone else this, yet? And the first place I come to announce it is here? LOL.

For the past couple of months we've merely just been "not preventing it" but not actively *trying*. I haven't been charting or anything like that.

Well, I finally just got AF yesterday after being 4 days late. Being late, we started discussing the possibility of being pregnant and I guess it all kind of really got our hopes up. When I finally started, I realized how much I was *wishing* I wouldn't have. I mentioned it to Thomas and he felt the same way. So, we had this entire State of the Union talk last night and have decided that we will now officially start TTC this month. Eek! I'm excited :)

Going to buy a basal thermometer today. Any recommendations on that??

Re: We're now "Officially" TTC.

  • Congrats! And good luck!

I bought my basal therm. at target, it was a target brand. I believe it was around $10, but honestly dont remember. It couldn't have been too expensive, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it.

  • Yay!!! I am starting to chart this month again as well, but since the Aflac discovery we will put it off one more month.

I am not telling a soul irl life, with the exception of a small hint here or there to my younger sister.

Thanks Mar! Headed to Target later today, so I'll check there. Dumb question: was it in the pharmacy with the regular thermometers or would I find it in with the feminine stuff??

    Yay for you, too! :)

I was completely wondering about that... if other people told anyone else. I just can't imagine telling my friends "Yea, so we're TTC now." - I don't know, maybe my friends are weird or maybe it's me, I just think it would be awkward.

My parents have been NON STOP on the "we need grandkids" (they have one from my sister already) but I don't think I'm even going to tell them.

Pharmacy. Right next to the target brand regular thermometers. It's pink! haha

  •  Aren't you afraid to post it here then?  I've been debating about talking about these things (when the time comes) on here and GP for the fear that someone I know will see it.  Maybe I'm too paranoid?

  • Very exciting Linds!!!

The first place I came to announce TTC was here.  Some of our IRL friends know - mostly the girls.  I only say anything if it comes up in conversation.  I haven't announced it.  My parents and sister know so I am sure a few more family members know by now.  But DHs family doesn't know.

Duh I ignored your question. Ditto Mar, I saw basal thermometers there too, not too far from the yummy gummy prenatals I take.

Do NOT buy a Meijer brand thermometer my battery died 3 days in, I was so pizzed. LOL

I actually don't post it on my local aside from an occassional question, I don't advertise how much I am on the nest (not like I did with the knot) and I think the anniversary board is slightly more obscure, plus the usernames help a teeny bit.

Not to say a few of us don't hold back on certain things due to lurker/stalker people from our real life.

Nope. It's not that I care if people I know, know. It's just I don't want come right out and say it at a dinner party or something. And as far as my parents go, they'd never be on here - and I just want to wait and tell them when we actually get pregnant and surprise them. :)

I feel the same - I'd definitely tell friends if it came up in conversation, I just don't know how to "announce" it to them otherwise, lol.

Not at all.  If people find out they find out.  It's not a huge secret.  A lot of my friends know I have several 'online friends' that I talk to a lot but very few (my mom, my sister, and DH) know what site and board.

My feeling is if someones nosey enough to do that, they can't get mad at me for them finding out that way. And what are they going to say? "I stalked you online and saw this and this, I can't believe you didn't tell me!" I'd laughed at them. Everything comes out eventually, anyways.

The only person I can think of who may stalk me out on here is my BILs wife. And I have a feeling her reaction would be a lot like mine was, a "i cant believe it!" instead of a "wtf/angry" reaction. And she also, like me, would never call anyone out about it, or cause drama over it. Since that would just make her look crazy and dumb.

  • Congrats! (Which is maybe a silly thing to say, but I'm ok with that chance.) I think when we get to a point where we are TTC, I'll tell you girls first. I imagine with a few people it will come up in conversation, especially when I start cutting back on the wine. Stick out tongue

Okay, tally says I'm paranoid.  In that case, count me in the not-not trying category and if it doesn't happen this month, the TTC one too.  Stick out tongue

Haha, thanks!! :) And yea, the cutting back on the wine will definitely be a red flag when we go to dinner with friends ;)

Hahaha, it's easy to be paranoid around the internet. I guess a lot of it is that I've posted on the Oct 08 board on TK and TN since the board was even created, so I think it's a "safe" place for a lot of us who are just used to it. No one IRL would have any idea to find me here.

I don't think DH and I will tell anyone.  I don't know why, but I think b/c we're both expecting issues, we don't want to deal with having to explain to people why things aren't working.
