A post this morning got me thinking, how many people who are NOT trying to conceive use BC, such as a pill, patch or IUD?? (Not just condoms)
Re: BC poll
Me! We wont be TTC for another two years...
Edit: Were using the pill & Condoms
I just stopped taking hormonal BC, and I'm using the fertility awareness (charting) method as BC. I'm most of the way through reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility", which gives a good, reliable method for using your body signs, temp, etc. to determine when you're fertile and not. The book also explains that there is a huge difference between the "rhythm method" and FAM, which seem to get confused for one another a lot.
I really was getting sick of being a raging beeatch on hormonal BC, and I'm trying to be more "natural" about things in our house, so it's working for me. But it may not be for everyone.
I use Depo Provera (aka 'the shot'). Before that I was on pills.
We think I might somehow be pregnant, though, so I will be going to the store when he gets home so I can POAS later.
I use BCP and 'doms--even after 9 years. no, we really really really dont want kids for awhile (ever?).
LAURAT KEEP ME THE SH*T UPDATED!!!!!!!

Brew - Weird, my sister has PCOS and she takes BC to regulate her periods because otherwise she doesn't get them.
Shauni - yeah, I don't know. It won't be a good thing if I'm pregnant, as badly as I want a baby, because of the meds I take for my migraines.
Yes, please. Updates will be in order!
I'm on BCP (Trisprintec) and that's about it. I'm contemplating switching due to paranoia from that fact that we don't want children for at least another year.

I'm currently on Seasonique - so I get my period every three months. We are probably going to start TTC next Spring at some point.
LauraT - can that happen?? How long have you been on that?
I'm currently on OrthoEvra (patch), but I'm on my last patch and then I'm going off. I'll be using FAM and condoms until we're ready to TTC.
DH was very put off when he learned some facts about BC and I'm just ready to be done with adding extra hormones to my body.
We are so bad, we don't use any BC. He just pulls out. We've been doing this for about 9 years and have not gotten pregnant.
We could intrepret this two ways, either we have been lucky and he has pulled out just in time, or one of us may have a problem conceiving.
Sorry if it's TMI.
OMG, Stef! That stuff is E-V-I-L. That's the sh!t that turned me into a monster and made me gain nearly 30 lbs in three months earlier this year!
Really? I've been on it for 2 years now without any significant changes from the brand (Orthotri) I was on. Then again, this is the only BCP I've ever been on.

That's awesome it works for you. At the beginning of this year, insurance raised prices for Orthotri - I'd been on it for 4 yrs - so I switched to generic and it effed me up BAD. I was SO mean to K I'm almost a little surprised he didn't dump my azz. What really did it was when I realized that despite my doing P90X every damn day, I'd still gained 27 lbs. In three months. I was telling my BFF about it and she said she'd wished she'd known to warn me - she had the same exact problems with it. It's crazy how hormones do such different things to different people...
Laura-PCOS has different ovulation effects on different women, or so my gyno says. I tried the pill and go homicidal on many different brands, so no BCP for me. Plus, I don't want AF each month, so I'm ok w/ that. Dying to hear the POAS results....
Deb-we didn't use BC for 7+ years, then I figured something was fishy and went to said gyno and got the bad news. I'd get checked out. But I also wasn't getting my period every month so that gave me suspicions as well
Steph-was also on that shiit (orthocyclen) and went nearly insane (see above). Gyno even put me on low estrogen dose BCPs and they made me cra-cray too, so no pills for me.
My friends joke if we ever do use fertility drugs, it'll be DH & Misty + 50. No thanks! DH is terrified of multiples...
Brew - that makes sense. In her case, she doesn't want her period, it's more that it makes her body normal, or something? She doesn't really talk to me about this stuff, but what I gather is that it's more like it's fixing the underlying problem, rather than just giving her AF, you know?
P.S. Twins run in my family. Blech.
I'm on the pill (Aviane). In December it will be a year, and I'm stopping after that. We don't want to get preggo right away, but I want my body to have time to get back on it's natural cycle before we do. We'll then be using a mix of charting (simple form, no temps and such) and pull out method. I know it's not exactly a trustworthy system, but we also won't really mind if it does happen.
Aviane is the only thing I've ever been on...it's not bad and it will be weird not knowing exactly when my period comes.

I have been on the generic of othrotricyclen for 2 years. It affected my mood so much but I never got around to changing it. I had my yearly today actually and the dr gave me a sample of beyaz. Which is the new form of yaz I believe. So hopefully my mood improves.
