Friday Random Talk

I used some Avon ANEW Rejuvinate Revitalizing Night cream last night, and the Day cream this morning, and my skin looks awesome.  My SIL sells Avon and always sends me the catalogs, and this time she sent me a bunch of samples for this line.  If my skin still looks this good by Monday after using this stuff, I might actually buy it.

Re: Friday Random Talk

  • So, my cell phone sucks.  I got a replacement phone last Saturday and ever since I got it activated, it says I've been roaming.  I've talked to 5 different "tech support" people and no one can seem to fix it.  I have always hated my phone anyway, so I might upgrade this weekend.  I just don't know what I want.  All of the non-smartphones look and feel like they suck, but I'm not sure I want to spend the money on a smart phone.  Ugh, why is this so difficult?!

  • I got a new phone in September and had a really hard time finding a decent non-smart phone.  I actually put it off for quite awhile until T-Mobile came out with one that I liked.  Unfortunately, its been kind of disappoing and has some quirks to it that I don't like.  But I refuse to drop the money on an expensive smart phone and (even worse) a monthly data plan!

I really don't want to spend another $15 a month on a data plan, but Verizon doesn't really have any decent non-smart phones right now and I've been checking their site and stores for a few months now to see if they have something I might be interested in with no luck.  I feel like a all of the non-smart phones out there are disposable and geared towards teenagers.

  • I'll be meeting SIL's new boyfriend tonight.  I'm not a fan of her situation.  As you'll recall, she got married in July 09.  Left her husband in March of this year.  She has yet to file the divorce paperwork though.  And now she has a new boyfriend who she's head-over-heels for, and she's bringing him to my house tonight and they're spending the night.

I'm a little uneasy about a guy that I've never met before spending the night at my house.  I hope he doesn't murder us all in the middle of the night.  Stick out tongue  But seriously...

I told my husband last night that while SIL may have moved on with her life, I'm having a hard time with her moving on.  I still miss the good ol' days when she was with her husband (and I can still call him that since she hasn't even filed the divorce paperwork!).

DH told me that their marriage is over and I should just accept that they're both moving on and I should too.  I told him to stop being so rational because I'm busy being emotional about the situation and his logic is getting in the way of my emotions!  Tongue Tied

Agreed.  I think the cell phone companies are trying to push everyone toward smart phones and make consumers feel like they have to have a fance iPhone/Droid/Blackberry.  And then cell phone companies rake in all of the money because they require pricey data plans.

Don't fall for their evil plan, Wop!  Wink

I'm out numbered!  Haha.  I've been unhappy with my cell phone for almost 2 years.  I seriously hate it, I can't wait to get something else.  I'm not sure I want to settle for another crappy phone.  Another right now is that Nick and I could get 2 smart phones and our cell phone bill wouldn't change.  We still have an old Alltel phone plan, and if we both upgraded, our plan would change and we could get more for the same price.  If we both got crappy phones (that will most likely not last 2 years), we would only be saving $20 per month.

But you're right, I don't want to get sucked in!  Ack!

This part made me laugh. I hate it when DH does it, though it does make me feel better someone else goes through it as well.

Wow, Avon! I haven't heard about that in years. Our pastor's wife used to have all the lipstick samples, about 1" high, in a little carrying case. We looooved playing at their house. :)

  • I think I'm picking up a little bit of cabin fever. DH has been crazy busy with a couple of clients and hasn't been home much which leaves me home alone and going a bit stir crazy. I remember when I used to have friend in real life, but they all still have jobs and no time for the deeder. The only friend I talk too constantly is my BFF who is NJ so that is mostly through email. If anyone needs me I'll be over in the corner having a pity party. ;)
  • I'm going to Chicago for a race this weekend with three other mom-friends from my running group. This is my first girls-only weekend away from DH and DS. The sucky part is that DH has been traveling all week and won't get home 'til after I leave, so the ILs have to pick up DS from daycare, and DH will get him at their house tomorrow. The house is really quiet without him and the dog around right now!

Also I'm kinda stressed that we have to get our race packets by 8pm (Central) and aren't leaving here 'til 4pm (Eastern, obv.). I hate feeling rushed, especially when I'm not the one driving. And I'm a *terrible* passenger/backseat driver since getting rear-ended in 2002. TERRIBLE

It does suck, but he is right.  Who knows, maybe this new guy really is all that.  It's not his fault things between his girlfriend and her (maybe soon to be ex) husband are seperated.

When my parents divorced, I was devistated, naturally.  My mom just moved out one day.  I didn't talk to my mom for almost 6 months.  She left my dad for another guy she had been seeing for some time (gasp! I actually didn't find this out until like....a year ago. Apparently I was a little naive.)  I eventually learned to accept and forgive.  I really like my stepdad even after learning all the scandalist information.  My parents are much happier people now that they're not married anymore and have moved on.  I am, too because I came to peace with everything.

You're very wise, Wop.  Thanks for the insight!

That's a lot of logistics to think about -- both childcare for your son and getting to Chicago on time.  Good luck!

Dude!  I know exactly how you feel!  We need to hang out, seriously.  When Nick goes out with his buddies, I feel like a loser because no one's calling me to hang out Stick out tongue  He always tells me I'm welcome to hang out with them, but I don't always enjoy hanging out with a bunch of guys.

  • It is snowing like crazy up here!! Ahhhh I love it. :) Bout time!

Also, I have the best SO. I woke up this morning to cram for my final project due this afternoon. I walk out to park it on the couch to work and am brought a plate of eggs, bacon, a pancake and oj. I love him. :)

  • So, it dawned on me yesterday that the new crop of lawyers at my firm are all younger than me.  That makes me feel old.
  • And because I've been a Debbie Downer lately, here's a good news AW:

I'm doing Nanowrimo this year and so far I've written over 7600 words, which I'm super happy about!  I was really hesitant about signing up, but so far it's going really well, I'm having fun, and I'm really happy with my word count.

  • How is it only 10:30?  I'm already ready for lunch.

That was sweet of your SO!

I have a Samsung Juke that you can have it you want it.  It's tiny, and it's definitely not a smart phone.  :)  It's in pretty good condition though I used it for 2 years.  It's been sitting in a drawer in my house for over a year.  It has and MP3 player and can take pictures.  :)
