I got a new phone in September and had a really hard time finding a decent non-smart phone. I actually put it off for quite awhile until T-Mobile came out with one that I liked. Unfortunately, its been kind of disappoing and has some quirks to it that I don't like. But I refuse to drop the money on an expensive smart phone and (even worse) a monthly data plan!

I really don't want to spend another $15 a month on a data plan, but Verizon doesn't really have any decent non-smart phones right now and I've been checking their site and stores for a few months now to see if they have something I might be interested in with no luck. I feel like a all of the non-smart phones out there are disposable and geared towards teenagers.

Agreed. I think the cell phone companies are trying to push everyone toward smart phones and make consumers feel like they have to have a fance iPhone/Droid/Blackberry. And then cell phone companies rake in all of the money because they require pricey data plans.

I'm out numbered! Haha. I've been unhappy with my cell phone for almost 2 years. I seriously hate it, I can't wait to get something else. I'm not sure I want to settle for another crappy phone. Another right now is that Nick and I could get 2 smart phones and our cell phone bill wouldn't change. We still have an old Alltel phone plan, and if we both upgraded, our plan would change and we could get more for the same price. If we both got crappy phones (that will most likely not last 2 years), we would only be saving $20 per month.

But you're right, I don't want to get sucked in! Ack!

That was the part that did it for me - my Alltel plan was dirt cheap, but we recently added my husband to my plan and therefore had to switch to Verizon plans. It wouldn't have been that much cheaper to stick with crappy phones, especially with the BOGO Droid deal.

I held out for a long time, but I've used it enough for useful stuff (price comparisons/reading reviews while shopping, some work-related stuff, internet access in stupid hotels that charge for wireless when I'm traveling and really need to check my email or make reservations or figure out how to get someplace, etc) that I'm glad I got it.

My neighbor's next door are having an estate sale for their Mom that died a few months back. Mom lived on the other side of the us. I went over to the sale for a bit and had some fun looking around. There was a lot of jewelry and a some really pretty serving sets.

I have a Samsung Juke that you can have it you want it. It's tiny, and it's definitely not a smart phone. It's in pretty good condition though I used it for 2 years. It's been sitting in a drawer in my house for over a year. It has and MP3 player and can take pictures.

I'm pretty sure I have a similiar type of phone- The LG Rhythm (MP3 player phone). I am actually looking for something with a full key board. That is a must for me right now. Thanks for the offer though :-)

I don't think mine is considered a smart phone (its not BB, iPhone or Droid) but the internet access is awesome. It's actually saved me a ton of time and money. I can't wait to upgrade.

Wop - GL with the phone. I also have a non-smart phone (low IQ phone? stupid phone?) and I think I might get a pay as you go phone because I use so few minutes on it - then I can just talk on Andy's phone for longer convos.

Kasa - Yay for Narwomir (I can't remember how you write or say that) and boo for family troubles. Hopefully the new guy is nice and that'll make it more bearable

All the single (when husband is away) ladies - call out for a GNO when it happens!

It's snowing heavily hear. Toby is enjoying it. I'll probably go snap a picture of him collecting snow on his fur like my mantle collects dust.

And because I've been a Debbie Downer lately, here's a good news AW:

I'm doing Nanowrimo this year and so far I've written over 7600 words, which I'm super happy about! I was really hesitant about signing up, but so far it's going really well, I'm having fun, and I'm really happy with my word count.

COOL! I've always wanted to do that. Well, "always" since I heard about it a few years ago.

I so wanted a sidekick, when I got it, I only it a few months before I sold it - it was too annoying. Now I have a blackberry and love it but I need to learn how to use a lot of its features and there is one thing that puzzles me that I was able to do easily on my other phones. ERRRRRRR

Hey ladies! I gave myself a couple hours off this afternoon between my volunteer thing this morning until I start my after school program, so I wanted to pop in and say hello! Smile

GrKaters-A hot chocolate race sounds delicious. Is it a long race?

Kasa- Congrats on your word count, you're really rocking NaNoWriMo so far. I've been slacking. Hope everything goes well with the SIL/boyfriend tonight, definitely a difficult situation, but maybe seeing her with this new guy will help you with the acceptance? PS-You're totally not old.

Wop- I also am in the ranks of dragging my feet to get a smart phone, and have been bummed with Verizon lately. I feel like my coverage has gotten horrendous in the past couple of months...or maybe it's their sneaky way to lure me into a shiny, new smart phone? Keep us updated on the Avon stuff...I've been in the market for some new face lotion and you're piqued my interest.

Des&Molly-Any pics to show of the invites? It sounds like it's going to be a fun party.

Teacher- Good luck on your final, that's really sweet of your boyfriend to do that for you!

Will do! Still looking good so far. Either it's already helping balance out my skin tone, or it blends really well with my makeup because my face looks really even.
