Care Package, Donation ?

Not sure if people are just doing something on their own, but if anyone wants to go in on something to try to cheer Emily and Sean up (if that's even possible), just let me know.  I'm happy to organize something.  I'm not exactly sure what one would send, but we could make a donation to a charity or something.  Jewish ppl usually send food (but that just doesn't feel like enough).

Re: Care Package, Donation ?

  • I would like to help, but I have absolutely no idea what to say or do.  Please let me know if there is something set up I can contribute to.

  • I will be happy to contribute no matter what you decide is appropriate to send them.

  • That's a great idea. sreihing and I were chatting about this yesterday. We were thinking of making a donation to March of Dimes in memory of the babies, but I'd be happy to contribute to a care package as well.

  • I would love to send them something.
  • Yes, I would be happy to help, too. Care package, donation or both, I'd love to help.
  • Whatever it is, I would love to help. I think it would be nice for a lot of us to go in on something, whatever it may be, together.

  • Would flowers be too impersonal?  Or maybe we can do some research and figure out some nice take-out places in her area and get GCs from there so they don't have to worry about cooking as much?
  • I'd be down for contributing.  I was planning on firing off a card at lunch today too.

  • I am willing to donate to whatever is decided as well.

  • I love the idea of something food-related (whether it be restaurant GCs or an actual care package of food items). Flowers would be lovely too. And maybe something like an angel? I don't know if that would be too upsetting though.

  • I also like the idea of March of Dimes.  What if we did a combined present with a donation, flowers, dinner, and something else?  Does anyone know any good restaurants or their favorite restaurants in Milwaukee?  I haven't been up there in ages.

  • I was thinking, too, about maybe something from Etsy, but I don't know if something personalized would just be too painful.

I know someone who does angel sculptures, specifically child angels. The sculptures are beautiful and seem to bring a lot of comfort to parents. They do bring up a lot of emotions, though. Just looking at them, even before this, brought up tears.

I can post the link or PM the link to the shop if you guys want.

  • Count me in whatever it is we decide to to. I think a gift card and some flowers would be appropiate. I also like the idea of donating to a charity.

Katsblaze did you say you had her address? I would love to send her a card.

  • If we do a GC for food, how about to Whole Foods - they have tons of great prepared food to take home, in case E & S aren't up for actually going out to eat.  I also did some quick research and it looks like there is a similar gourmet grocery/take-out place called Beans & Barley in Milwaukee that gets good reviews.

The angel sculpture also sounds nice.

  • I'm more than willing to contribute to anything as well. (I was already planning on sending them something anyway, but I think a group gift/donation sounds wonderful). I really like the Angel idea... although it does bring some sadness, I think that things like that also bring comfort to the parents, especially knowing that other people are thinking of the babies as well. (Coming from friends and relatives who have lost babies... but of course, not everyone reacts the same way to things like this, so whatever you guys think is best.))

Those are really beautiful.  And are making me cry at my desk.  I would be ok with something like that.

  • Susi, those are beautiful. I don't know how anyone else feels about something like that, but in any case, I just wanted to pass compliments to your friend.

  • I love the angels, and am also teary eyed looking at them. They are very touching.

I just want to add that you ladies are amazing!  I think we are a very tight group and even though some of us don't know each other in real life, we are a great support system for each other.

  • I agree those are really nice. I think something like that could work.

  • The Nest has eaten 3 of my comments on this thread.

    1) I'm in for whatever.

    2) I think the angels are really a nice idea... sad, but a healthy sad.

Those are really sweet and are also making me teary-eyed.  I like the "Fourever with Twins" piece but with triplets obviously, and in a natural color.  There are lots of nice ones, but I particularly like the ones that include the father too.

I can see that different people might react to these in different ways, but I'm inclined to think Emily would like these.  Although if there is any doubt at all, perhaps it's best to just stay away from it altogether.

  • Susi, your friend is so talented. I think they are beautiful and would fully support sending something like that to Emily and Sean (if everyone else is on board). Ah, the tears have come again.

ditto this. I really think that Emily would like something like this. these pieces are beautiful, and I know that it would provide a nice remembrance for them, but in a happy way.
