Randoms

Since my brain feels like mush today, and I am unmotivated to work, here are my randoms.  Please add your own.

I am reading a deposition transcript.  The court reporter actually typed out "helluva."  I find great humor in this.  I'm easy to amuse today.

My kid is slow to talk, but he is getting better everyday.  Last night, he was playing.  He stopped, held up his hands and said, "where the ball go?"  I did a combo laugh/cry because it was so cute.

I had more random thoughts, but they escape me now.  See?  Brain = mush.

Re: Randoms

  • We are on week 3 of my sister's visit. I am ready for her to go home. Her OCD cleaning is driving me nuts, and my lack of OCD cleaning is driving her nuts. You wanna scrub my baseboards, fine, just don't be a martyr about it.

I did take some pleasure in the night that she offered to babysit for us...we came home after 3 hours and she had the thousand yard stare. She actually said to me "I have a lot more respect for what you do now". I'm glad Ms. Pediatrician-in-training is getting this experience before actually becoming the "authority".

If she is anything like my friend, once she is a pediatrician, she will become the judgiest of judgers when it comes to parenting.  Sometimes, I actually do want to pull the "you'll understand when you are a mother" on her.

She isn't too bad with me, but she just rips her sister to shreds.

  • I have no doubt. She was on her labor and delivery rotation when Sean was born and she had all sorts of "knowledge" to bestow upon me. And was not real happy that I wanted a natural birth. And that she wasn't invited to the delivery room (nobody was but Dan). I am Amy100% sure she was expecting me to ask her to catch the baby.

Medical students know everything, just ask them.

  • PS, sorry to get all bitter in your cute thread about Andy! That's adorable.

  • So cute, Vinny.

I'm home today since daycare is closed for Veteran's Day and am using morning nap time to catch up on here, FB, order pics, etc.  It's divine.

Here is a photo of the W family from last weekend.

  • Ha!  No worries!

I am now thinking of all of the times that I have internally rolled my eyes at my doctor friend.  She gave me a lecture after my c/s.  Before I went in, she told me to make sure my doctor would make a large incision (sorry if TMI).  After, when I said they had trouble getting him out, she launched into "See!  I told you! blah blah blah..."

Thanks hon, but it wasn't my doctor's fault.  There were other issues.  But, since you didn't read that chapter in your textbook, it apparently doesn't exist.

  • I dreamed I was eating this candy and it was so good and I woke up wanting it but I don't even know if it exists and, if it does, if I'd even like it as much as I did in the dream.

    But it was so good.

    This reminds me.

I dreamed last night that Fitty started sheltering toddlers instead of bulldogs. I was going to adopt a toddler from her, but he was asleep when we got there. While he was sleeping, he started snoring. It wasn't cute baby snore but full blown, 95 year old grandpa kind of snoring. Fitty and I were discussing the best way of getting rid of the snore (because I wasn't going to take the kid if that snoring came with the package) when I woke up and realized that my husband's snoring had made its way into my dream.

So yeah, anybody want a slightly used husband? He's very useful around the house.

  • Vinny I cried on Saturday when B raised his arms up and said 'all done' when he was done eating dinner.

I am always surprised by the number of people on the nest who work in the legal field.

Candy corn hersey kisses are gross.

  • Moo, your siggy pic makes me all warm and fuzzy inside every time I see it.

I was going to post a FB rant in a new post but I will stick it here.

Am I the only one who has SAHM FB friends who constantly post about how much harder their lives are than those of us that work and don't have kids?  One is my crazy neighbor who when I posted that I missed Tony after not seeing him for three weeks, complained that her husband may or may not be going away for one week in December.  (he never travels)  when I said I could handle a week but it's getting old never seeing Tony, she kicked off about how because she has a 4 year old and has no family to help, she has it much harder and that I'm not a mom so I don't get it.

I also have a friend who posted about spraying is orchards with sulfer at 3 am.  Some SAHM went into a tirad about how he doesn't know hard until he's been up all night with a baby.  Dude, the guy has two kids and wasn't even complaining, just stating a fact.

It's like some kind of one sided war they have created to prove they have a busy life and are just as important as those who work.  I am so close to saying WE CAN'T GET PREGNANT SO FOFF OFF!!!

  • I can't see Katie's picture.

I was very sad this morning when I heard on the news that all the Tim Horton's in RI have closed.  The one closest to me is in Massachusetts, but when I went by this morning there were big signs in the window saying "This Location is Closed."  Despite the signs and the fact that all the lights were off, there were three cars lined up at the drive through speaker, waiting for someone to take their order.

  • Kay--OMG NO!!!!!!!!! I need my French Vanilla fix like whoa.

I bet her FUPA's name is Shane, like the gunslinger/drifter of literature.--HappyTummy
  • I wonder why it closed Kay?

Handling a kid on your own every day and night can be rough but not the end of the world. Although getting the sweet release of coming into work has got to help with that.

  • My TV news this morning said it was just RI and CT, but the Associated Press story says it's the Mass. stores too.  You'll have to drive to Maine for your fix.  This seals the deal on me ever getting pregnant again.  I craved their peanut butter cookies like nobody's business.

My friend who does this always manages to couch it in terns of "We need to stop making other mothers feel bad. SAHM moms work as hard...."  I want to say, dude, wtf are you talking about? You kids are both in school and you frequently post about how your H is doing the laundry or making dinner.  And fyi, your schilling for two period schemes does not make a working mom make.

    image
  • I assume they closed because of this region of the country's obsession with Dunkin Donuts.

I don't have SAHM friends who complain any more than people who work outside the home do, but in some ways I think what they do is harder than what I do.

  • Dawg, I called out a friend who commented "just wait until you have kids" when I complained about writing my dissertation on FB. Now having had a baby, I can definitively say that writing my diss was way harder and lots less fun.

That used to drive me CRAZY -- still does.

I have no idea what this means. All I can think of is some sort of British period piece? Like, set designing?

I'm stuck on trying to associate it with Curt Schilling.

  • I thought she meant pyramid
  • Sorry, pyramid--selling makeup and workout disks.  Period schemes would be more like selling tampons.

Oh my god that makes so much more sense. I was like "Two shillings for a period ... drama? Tuppence a bag?"

  • If given a choice between three weeks alone at home without Andy  and a week without Andy at home (all day no less) with Lila I can tell you I would pack him on the slow boat to China myself.

    I'm a bad mom.

  • Having no kids or job, I'm trying to keep up with the Kardashians and Days or Our Lives here.  Work with me.
    image
  • If I had the choice between 3 weeks working but alone at night and on weekends with B vs 1 week alone all day, night and weekend with B I would pick the 3 weeks. I think it would be too much to be on duty 24/7 for a week.
  • Fallin, I hope your posting daily on FB about how hard your life is.

It actually sorta does suck but I would never FB biitch about it.

  • Not to get into a working mom vs. SAHM debate since I have no basis for anything...however, I am so sick of one of my aunt's FB updates, one minute it's how haaaaard it is to be a SAHM (clean all the things!) and the next it's off to take a nap/relax/whatever. Shove it.

On an unrelated note. I just found my holiday cheer. I bought the tickle monster book on Amazon and if I spent a few more dollars I would get free shipping. So I got a Christmas CD. I'm stupid excited for it to come.
