Name Change Service?

Ohio brides-

Did you use a name change service?  NameChangeExpress and MissNowMrs are both 29.95 and I'd like to use their services to make the process easier and quicker, but I have no idea which to choose!  Any advice?

Re: Name Change Service?

  • Totally unnecessary. Changing my name was a piece of cake, no need to spend money to make it easier. Check out this article; I found it really helpful:

  • Are you a vendor??

Assuming you're not, I see no need to use a service.  Besides, do you really want to give some company all of the personal info they'll need to change your name?  Focus on your driver's license, SS card, and anything you need to do your job and change the rest when you have the time.

  • You totally don't need to. Change your SS card, Driver's license and then slowly do the others. It is actually quite simple.

  • No, I'm not a vendor.  I just thought a service would expedite the process.  I'd rather get it done all at once, versus one place at a time.  But if the general consensus is that it isn't necessary, I'll trust that advice.

  • i completely agree with everyone else. I just got married and it took me less than 3 weeks to get everything changed including work email. Just mail away for your social security card and once you have that make a list and go from there. You can get your name changed for SSC and passport via email. Then start with your driver's lincens. Many credit card companies will take your word for it .... then take your license to your back and tada you are done Smile
  • Along these lines...passports.  Can I fly with my passport I got in my maiden name if I bring a copy of my marriage license?  We're supposed to go to Puerto Rico in January and I just realized this is the one thing I didn't change.

  • I had a coupon from DB for MissNowMrs, and all they do is give you the forms, but I didn't even use any of them. Changing my name was easy. The only place I didn't change it was at the water company, so the water bill still comes to my maiden name. Overall, it's not worth spending your money on.

I was always told the answer is no. The tickets must match 100 % your passport. You can submit the name change for the passport it only took me 2-3 weeks to get the updated passport.

I was told no.  You can have it expedited, which I would do if I were you, but your ID has to match your passport, which has to match your plane/boarding tickets.  If you have gotten your passport within one year, the name change is free, but you will have to pay for expedited processing.
