I just don't know what to do. We were suppose to meet up with some old friends from my childhood (some of which I haven't seen in a very long time) tonight. My sister organized this little while ago and I said I would definitely be there.
The problem being that we are meeting at a bar and it would be odd to everyone (especially my sister's) if I didn't have a cocktail. Since my pregnancy test came out positive first thing this morning I will not be drinking.
What would Oct 08 do, risk someone guessing the very first day you find out you are pregnant or just not go? ETA: Usual deal please don't say anything on FB, you guys and dh are the only ones that know.

Anyway -- order your own drinks -- cranberry and tonic water or something, with a lime in it. Something that looks alcoholic but isn't.
If you find that you need to be covert about it, order a "vodka and tonic with a splash of cran" and then pull the bartender aside and ask him to leave the vodka out of your drinks for the night.

Maybe you could fake the big D and not go? Or maybe get there early and talk to the bartender and say every time you ask for like a rum and coke give you just coke instead (though that has caffeine I would think it was better than alcohol) Or if you are a beer drinker and they have a non alcoholic beer on tap, maybe you can ask the bartender to give you that?

YAYAYAYAYAYAYA!!!!!!!!!!!! I 2nd cranberry and tonic, just get your drinks at the bar, not from the waitress...we told our friends right away mainly for this reason lol i was such a big beer and wine drinker, not so much cocktails, that it was really hard to not draw attention to myself...

First, OMG CONGRATS!
Second, either get your own drinks (as everyone else said, something that looks alcoholic but isn't), or fake sick or on medications or other reason why you can't drink. Assuming this is a one-time get together with most of these people, and you won't be seeing them every week for early pregnancy.

i actually found out i was pg a week before my xmas party at work. it was a small group of us and we just go out to dinner. i actually took sips and kept spitting it back in. LOL

This morning has been so weird. I had planned how I was going to tell Scott and did not stick to that plan at all!! The only reason I even thought I might be is because I hadn't broken out yet this month and usually I do a little bit.
Again thank you, and actually those are all great ideas I was just going to say I was on Antibiotics because I have had a cough for a month or so, which is finally going away.

He is alreay making a million plans in his head and told me about 20 different ways we are cutting back to save, oh and he already has 'decided' if we have a shower he would prefer an open house at our place. Oh boy. That is awesome.
