Everytime I hear a parent say they couldn't go out to dinner with their child...

I always wondered why?? I mean really it wasn't that hard to entertain a toddler for the hour that you are there. I would give B crayons or a small toy and she was golden until dinner came and then while we eat. Never once would try to get out of her seat, never threw fits in the restuarant. Sat like such a happy little content girl.

Well I TOTALLY GET IT NOW with Miss Carly. I get it. I get it. I get it.  Going out to dinner with her is a pure nightmare.

  • Aww that sucks.....she just wont sit still??? Monk likes to take a little walk before he sits down to eat when we go out, but after that he is usually really good. Hope you figure out something to make dinners out easier.

  • Yup, she will not sit. I strap her in the high chair and she climbs right out of it. I have tried just a booster seat thinking maybe since its something knew she would do okay with it. Nope. She wants to be on the go or if DH or I old her then she is usually content for a while at least. Only thing that she can't climb out of is her little seat that I have that has a tray. I just never remember to grab it. I need to just keep it in my van so its there if we go. But even then usually by the end she starts throwing a tantrum.

When monk first started sitting in the high chairs we had this...and it was sooo useful that when we thought we lost it we bought another one....now we have two...one for in DHs car and one for if we go out with my mom or MIL...the seat part velcros around the back real tight so they cant wiggle out of the belts and straps on those seats.

  • Sounds like she & Abby could be the best of friends.

Abby finds it funny to throw the crayons, place mat, silverware, food on the floor and laugh. She is a nightmare. At home she is an angel. It's when I leave the house she turns into the devil. She hates the car. Yesterday she managed to take off her shoes and socks and scream the entire trip that she was "stuck" :o) I try not to leave the house that often w/ her .. ha!

  • Isn't it crazy how different siblings can be??? I feel the same way with Skyler vs Charli. Skyler was always an angel, Charli is my little monster bear. lol.
  • You know, I was so judgey before kids.  Now I GET IT!!!  LOL  Every kid is different, despite what parents do, sometimes a kid is just that way naturally.  So funny.  Davis is pretty good if we take him out, but if we truly want to enjoy a meal, we don't take him, especially if it is somewhere really nice.
